The canoe half marathon reported recently will take place on the Grand Union Canal between Broad Oak Bridge 109 to Slapton Lock 30 on Sunday 14th June 2009 between 12pm & 2pm. As there will be a considerable number of canoes, marshalls, spectators and obvious disturbance to the water it has been agreed that we will close scts 5-10 for angling from 11am until 3pm on the day.

Steve Sharp Woodland Lake Tench & BreamWoodland Lake on the new Tingrith Complex opened in style on 1st June with Darren Perry catching over 100lb on the pole made up of 21 tench averaging 2.5lb, carp up to 6lb+ and lots of skimmers and roach to 1lb. Press Officer Steve Sharp also fished the same venue on opening day for only 3 hours and caught many tench and bream to 3.5lb. By special permission of the Board a small selection of fish he caught in a 30 minute period were briefly retained for the attached photograph to show the quality of the fish to be caught. It is recommended that keepnets are not used at this venue in the interests of fish welfare due to the large number of fish that are likely to be caught in a very short space of time. Steve also caught lots of skimmers and roach to 1lb+ and an 8oz Silver Bream with all the fishing being caught on either Van Den Eynde pellet or Dynamite Baits frenzied sweetcorn.

Lewis Vereecque age 7 grandson of Tingrith bailiff Barry Fox who we featured in April with a personal best 14lb 8oz Common Carp from Beckerings Reservoir also fished Woodland Lake during the week and caught a mixed bag of tench, bream, roach and carp.

Many anglers reported carp to around 8lb which have grown on quickly as at last Septembers netting carried out by Framlingham Fisheries the largest was 4-5lb.
