Luton AC can now offer a 3rd rod winter ticket priced at just £10, for members only (Day ticket anglers can buy an extra day ticket to fish with a third rod).This covers all waters except Home Farm/Tingrith and will be trialled until the AGM in March 2012. Please note – if there are any incidents of anglers casting into another persons swim, then their ticket will be cancelled and the trial may be halted. This ticket is only available by phone or by post via the Membership Secretary – 01582 603466 ( Leave a message). A second rod licence is also required to fish with a third rod.
 
Anglers should note that there is a running race taking place on the Grand Union Canal towpath over the weekend of 21st & 22nd January 2012. This is an annual event and is run 45 miles from Northampton through to Tring on the Saturday and then back again on the Sunday. Upwards of 50 competitors are expected on both days.

Common CarpOn the South Lagoon Tony Millar landed pike of 11lb 4oz and 10lb 4oz with John Hansell having pike of 12lb 12oz and 4lb. Nearby on the River Great Ouse Robert Mills managed a 4lb 11oz chub and on North House Lake Stuart Phillips banked a 14lb 10oz common. Last week we reported on Craig Armstrongs 29lb 10oz North House Lake common and this week we have received the picture.

At Beckerings Reservoir Mark Ridgeway braved the weekend frosts to catch a mirror just under 18lb and a common of 12lb with one being caught just before dark and the other at midnight.
Earlier in the week Roger Reeves visited Beckerings Reservoir catching 17 roach for around 15lb on red maggot.

The water level at Beckerings Reservoir is almost back to normal now and the Board are pleased to announce that the keepnet ban has been lifted.
 
The winner of our January photo competition which closes on 31st January 2012 will receive a Starmer Baits bait package. It is open to anyone (members and non members) submitting a digital photo taken on any Luton AC controlled water and it can be of absolutely anything eg a sunset on the canal, a nice fish, wildlife etc. The photos submitted cannot be over a month old, the judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the result. Angling’s representative body, the Angling Trust, has launched a web site for anglers to record sightings of cormorants, goosanders and mergansers throughout the UK.
