Match Fishing Team Championship Qualifier – Sunday June 19th, 2011 – 70 pegs

Tough conditions greeted the 14 teams of five battling it out for two places in this years Match Fishing Team Championship, and many anglers had to result to scratching around for small fish to ensure maximum points for the team. In first place with 48 points were Fox Match Trentmen. Their team plan was based around targeting small chublets on the waggler fished across to the far bank and fishing for eels on the long pole, where maggots fed via bait dropper proved the key approach.

In second place and also qualifying for the final were Sensas A4, who finished just one point behind Trentmen on 47 points.

Continuing his winning ways from the previous day, Shakespeare Superteams Tony Bench was the top individual with a 10-6-8 net of chub from peg six. Waggler and maggot tactics again proved to be best, fishing anywhere between half and three quarters of the way across the river.

In second place from peg 67 was Garbolino Lincoln County angler Keith Clifton, who caught two bream on chopped worm and caster fished on the pole at eight metres for a 9-6-8 net.
