New fishing series coming to Country Channel TV (www.countrychannel.tv) and Sky TV

The Country Channel is delighted to announce that angling writer and photographer Robert MacDougall-Davis (www.wildaboutfishing.co.uk) has secured a fantastic series of wilderness fly fishing programmes called Backcountry Fishing.  The series is currently available on the free-to-view and rapidly developing online Country Channel (www.countrychannel.tv) and will soon be shown Sky 171 (My Channel).

The twenty-four part series, which will inspire the British angler, is shot on location in New Zealand by cameraman and producer Bruce Masson.  Robert, a regular contributor to the British angling press, was thrilled to have netted the Backcountry Fishing series: “this series is unique and some of the finest fly fishing footage that I have ever seen. The beauty of the series is that you genuinely feel like you are following Bruce and his friends along the river.” Robert continued, “The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and the fishing is awesome!  Those who love fly fishing will be completely absorbed and those who have not yet cast a fly will want to learn how.  These programmes will appeal to everyone, fishers and non-fishers alike.  Masson’s series encapsulates the very essence of fly fishing – fishing for magnificent fish in awe-inspiring scenery.”

Being keen fly fisherman themselves, Bruce and his friends make a great team and the quality of the series speaks for itself.  So if you have an interest in fly fishing or simply enjoy beautiful landscape and the great outdoors you will love Backcountry Fishing.

Paul Aiken (Country Channel CEO) is delighted to have landed the new series: “We are very pleased to develop our popular Country Pursuits strand of programming.  This series really captures the thrill of being on the water. We hope the series will be enjoyed by advanced fly fishers and inspire those who have yet to cast a fly.”

In recent months The Country Channel has been developing its Country Pursuits strand of programming and, in particular, increasing the amount of fishing content available on the channel. The Country Channel has also just completed a UK based fly fishing series, ‘Born to Fish’ which is also currently available on the channel. There are other fishing related programmes on The Country Channel such as Jack’s Rod – Out of Town 2 presented by Charles Jardine, Fishing the Avon with John Bailey and a fascinating Country Channel Face to Face interview with Orri Vigfussen (NASF Founder and Chairman).  Fishing is the largest participant sport in the world and there is always great demand for angling programmes on The Country Channel.

Backcountry Fishing is currently available as free-to-view video-on-demand on The Country Channel (www.countrychannel.tv). The series is due to be launched on Sky 171 on Wednesday January 6th at 7.30pm.  Each programme, from the twenty-four part series, will then be broadcast every Wednesday (7.30pm) on My Channel Sky 171 with repeats on Thursday (9.00am and 12.30pm) and Sunday (7.30pm).
