Week ending 25th March, 2012

A very busy week this week ending with two great matches.

Bob Wooster had three mid-sized Commons off the surface using dog biscuit. They weighed in at 12lbs, 10lbs and 15lbs.

Dan Court came for 24 hour session and had a Mirror of 11lbs and a Common of 12lbs.

Overnighter, Kevin Lock, of Torquay, was rewarded with an elusive 5lb Grass Carp and a 13lb Common.

Newbarn Farm Angling CentreRichworth sponsored, Louie Russell also did a night session which was blessed with a Common and a Mirror of 13lbs and 10lbs respectively.

Scott Bryant has completed his 24 hour session and caught four carp all caught on his own home made boilies. His catch included a Mirror Carp of 12lbs and three Common Carp of 10lbs, 10lbs and 11lbs.

A bumper double visit by Richard Park has seen him report sixteen Carp weighing in with a grand total of 225lbs! Richard did as day session interrupted by a sleep at home and then back again for the second part of his session. The largest of his haul was a 24lb Common Carp caught just one minute into his session starting. He used a float rig and a few maggot just shallow in the water. A total of five Mirrors to 19lbs, two Leathers of 16lbs and 17lbs and then nine Commons to 24lbs. Wow !

The 24 Hour Help for Heroes Charity match had six contestants banking fourteen Carp weighing 225lbs in total. The competition was won by Scott Bryant with 67lbs followed closely by Brett (aka. Biggy) with 66lbs 2ozs and in third place Dan Court with 45lbs 3ozs.

Then on Sunday the 25th March we held a Silvers match, again for Help for Heroes, Everyone caught a bag of silvers. The winner was Baz with 9lbs 2ozs and then second was Richard Ward (Senior) with 6lbs 6ozs. Third was Gil with a total of 6lbs 4ozs. A total catch of 48lbs was had over the 16 contestants.

All anglers taking part were rewarded with prizes donated by Belstane, WSB, Middy and TFG. We would like to thank those suppliers of ours very much for their generosity and help with this great cause.

We raised a total of £ 450.00 which is already with our local Help for Heroes representative Rob McGovern.

So the next competition is on June 2nd 2012. This is the Queenie Trophy Match over 24 Hours with two members in each of a total of 11 teams. Cash prizes and a trophy are on offer so if you want to join please call us or come and see us at the angling centre as soon as possible to secure your place.
