Goose Green

Fishing Goose Green, Lake 3 for a short evening session, Craig Burgess reports catching 6 Bream to 3lb (including flying bream),  a small Tench and three Carp caught in the last 40 minutes of the session, after the sun had gone down, the Carp comprised two Commons of 5lb and and a Mirror of close to 9lb, all fish were caught were close to the margins using a light float/ rod and line

Craig also stated that it was a lovely still summers evening, and he was surprised that after 7pm, he was the only person on the fishery.

Trevor Mordle reports a blinding day on Lake 3 at Goose Green, fishing the short pole and alternating between pellet & corn on the hook, Trevor caught 10 Bream, 4 Carp to 8-0-0, Crucians, Skimmers, Rudd & Roach for a total weight of over 60 lbs.

Dave Nevatt enjoyed an early season session on the River Adur, albeit in the middle of a lightning storm, fishing sweetcorn on the hook, Dave hooked and landed a beautiful Common Carp of 22-10-0, Dave said in his email, that he has fished all over the world in the last six years and has photographed some amazing fish, but the capture of this Common from the Adur reminded him what it’s all about.

Moor Farm

The following report comes from Steve Gray who fished a night session at Moor Farm on the bottom Lake from the 19th – 20th June.

Steve report the weather as being really bad,  fishing towards boat on the road bank he found the slow at first but landed to carp to 8lb,  as the evening drew on towards midnight, Steve had a run of 4 Tench, which were all around the 1-8-0 mark, Steve had nothing through the night, but started early the following morning where he caught another tench of a similar weight to those caught the previous evening, Steve then elected to fish on top with bread where he caught 10 Carp averaging 4-0-0, unfortunately for Steve the resident duck population soon discovered what he was doing so Steve switched to fishing on the bottom, where he caught a further 8 carp.

Steve advised in his mail that he was pleased with getting this amount of fish and cant wait to get down to the lakes again.

Goose Green

Thanks to the hard work of just five people from our membership on the 23rd June at Goose Green, (People in question were Tony Olliver, Les Taylor, Paul Cripps, Anthony Tester & Mark Emery), we were able to accomplish the work on Lake 2 in just one day as opposed to the two days originally anticipated, we did not however manage to finish topping up  woodchip  paths around Lakes 3 & 4 as planned, therefore we will be holding a further work party at Goose Green on the 30th June where we will hopefully, if we can get some help, finish the job, if not then the work will continue over the following weekend and beyond until such time as it is finished, we will also be improving the swims around Lakes 3 & 4, by way of installing sleepers on the front of the swims in the same manner as we have on Lake 2.

The long await final phase of the development works at Goose Green is well underway, the contractors have been on site for a week and the work accomplished on the old Deep Lake is quite simply – amazing, the contractors anticipate being on site for a further two weeks before the groundwork’s are completed, for photographs and video of the work in progress please visit our website www.pulboroughas.com and click on Goose Green from the links bar, then look at Phase 3, for your own safety, we kindly request that you do not enter the works area at any time.

The Fishery Management Team at Goose Green would like to publicly thank new member “Mike Gildridge” for his assistance in obtaining materials that will enable us to complete the swims on the new lakes, it’s appreciated Mike.
The more people we have helping the sooner we can finish and the sooner you can fish in peace.

Website News

A message from the Webmaster.

As you will notice when you log on to our website, it has taken on a new look.

A short time ago, ok, a long time ago, we ran a competition to design a new logo for the Society, and I thought it was about time that I found a way to integrate the new logo into the website, considering the new logo is already used on our headed paper, notices and club clothing as used by the Junior match teams.

It’s not been an easy task to integrate the logo, however perseverance paid off and I have spent a few hours this afternoon aligning everything to the new look, well, it had to be better than sitting outside in the heavy and persistent rain we have enjoyed today.

The old look website has been backed up and is ready to be sent to the archive, however I would like to gauge the reaction of you the member, do you like the new look site or do you prefer the old one?, I must admit, even though I have spent hours looking at the new site this afternoon, I much prefer it to the old one, which was in need of a facelift, the content within the site is exactly the same as before and only the general look and feel of the site has been changed.

Please let me have your thoughts on the new website, by completing an online poll through our website, the poll can be found on the News page, the poll will run for two weeks, or email me at webmaster @ pulboroughas.com (you will have to delete the space either side of the @ for the address to work), if the general consensus is good then the new look site will stay, if the consensus is towards the old site, I can always reinstate it.
