Catch Reports
Goose Green

Ron Short sends the following report on his afternoon/evening session on Lake 2 at Goose Green on the 13 August:

I had a good session on the large lake on peg 14, I had 5 Carp to 4lbs & lots of the small Carp, plus a lovely Crucian of about 1lb 8oz, it was beauty, but to my disappointment, when I reached the peg, the litter hidden in the reeds was a disgrace, I found an empty tin of corn also a Coke can & half a tin of luncheon meat. I cannot remember ever finding rubbish in any swim that I’ve fished, like this, so who left this rubbish needs to take it home, I just wonder if he lives like this, Needless to say I put it all  in my bag & disposed of it when I got home.

Adam Tester fished Lake 3, Peg 24 on Monday 13th August, fishing the pole with meat on the hook over of meat & hemp, Adam caught Carp, Bream and Skimmers, Adams father Anthony fished peg 27 on the same lake, fishing towards the reeds on the dam wall Anthony hooked but lost some sizeable Carp.

Webmaster Spike has enjoyed a well earned week off this past week, fishing at Goose Green on Wednesday 15th, Spike fished Lake 4 with the short pole and pellet for a short afternoon session, Spike put together a net of Skimmers, Rudd & Quality Roach, returning to the venue on Thursday with Adam Tester, Spike fished Lake 2, Peg 16 with Adam a few pegs away to Spikes left on Peg 18, fishing the short pole again with a mix of Corn and/or pellet on the hook fished over groundbait fed through a pole cup, Spike caught Crucians, Roach, Skimmers, Bream, Tench and small Carp plus a couple of larger examples to 5-0-0, Spike’s total weight at the end of the session was in excess of 40-0-0, Adam over peg 18, elected to fish the feeder in the channel between the island and the house bank, his third cast resulted in a Carp of 7-0-0, moving on to the short pole, with meat cubes as bait, Adam soon had the fish queuing up to be caught, with Skimmers, Roach, Bream, Small Carp and a further larger Carp, Adam’s total weight for the session was in excess of 25-0-0.

Webmaster Spike was to be found on Lake 2 again on the 16th August, this time fishing peg 13, once again fishing the short pole with Pellet/Corn on the hook, Spike caught fish from the off, with a steady succession of small Carp coming to his waiting hand, in addition to the small Carp, Spike added two larger examples from just off the edge of the island, the best being 4-7-0, returning to his inside line, Spike added Crucians, Skimmers, Bream, Roach, Rudd and a Fantail Carp of 3-0-0 for a total net of 44-2-0.

On the same Lake as Spike were his two nephews, Simon & Colin Parker, Simon fishing the straight lead towards the island from peg 17 caught a multitude of small Carp, plus Skimmers & Roach, he also added a bigger Common Carp to his tally that weighed in at 5-3-0, Simons brother Colin, sat himself down on Peg 18 and elected to fish the waggler at close range, Colin caught bream, Roach, Small Carp, plus two larger examples, the best being a Common of 7-9-0, all fish were caught on pellet/corn.

Also to be found on Lake 2 was Trevor Mordle, Trev fishing peg 20 with the short pole with pellet on the hook was to be seen constantly swinging in small Carp, Roach, Skimmers and just “occasionally” the landing net would go out for some the larger inhabitants of the Lake in the form of Bream and larger Skimmers.

Moor Farm

Steve Gray sends us the following report:

I fished Moor Farm Middle lake on Saturday 11th August, for a couple of days with my brother Simon, we both caught a lot of Carp, including 5 doubles, one in which was a 13lb Common Carp that I caught, and at the same time Simon hooked into a hard fighting Mirror Carp that weighed 16lb, a lot of the other carp were around the 6-10lb mark, and only a few we hooked into were under 5lb, so a successful and pleasing couple of days, and will be down there again soon to see if we can get anything bigger.

Photographs of Steve and Simon with their fish are attached.
