Trout And Coarse Fishing In Stafford

Trout fishing
Trout fishing has been great this week with plenty of anglers having some great sport on both lakes.  A fresh stocking has been added to both lakes, fish went in all around the 3lb mark with the odd big fish mixed in.  Fishing on the Railway Pool has been good with Damsels, Buzzers and a good variety of dries taking fish up to 7lb, While on the swans neck pool dries have been the best due to the fish holding above the weed.  Local angler Harry had the one of the best days fishing he has had taking 12 fish all on a floating line and the majority off the surface.  Good fishing has been had late in the evenings when the fish are free rising and are feeding hard.

Coarse fishing
This week has seen even more fish spawning on the old pool which has made the fishing a bit hit and miss with some anglers catching massive bags of fish one day then only a few the next.  Pegs 1,4,5,7 and all down the far bank have been producing good bream silver fish and plenty of carp.  The pegs in the woods are holding fish but right under the bank so fish close in with maggot or corn and feed pellet over the top.  The carp in the lakes are growing nicely at the moment with plenty of food going in, fishing in the Horseshoe hasn’t really kicked off yet as we are still working on a few more pegs one angler did have a good days sport catching loads of roach and Rudd and the odd tench up to 4lb. Pole fishing or the feeder will catch you plenty of fish in the old pool fished with corn, worm or maggot as a hook bait with pellets from the lodge as a feed.
Hope to see you all here soon Tight Lines  Phil Dixon
