News Release From The Scottish Countryside Alliance Educational Trust

Tam Tod was the true example of an all round countryman. A lifelong gamekeeper and ghillie, he died suddenly, soon after his retirement in 2008. He believed in family, etiquette and respecting the countryside.

Tam had a natural talent, instinct and infinite patience to pass on shooting and fishing skills to the young and old alike. But, most importantly he instilled into them the importance of observing the proper etiquette and respect for the countryside.

Tam TodIn recognition of the contribution Tam made in his life, his family and several friends decided to start a fund in his name which would support the younger generation to become involved with the countryside.

The Scottish Countryside Alliance Educational Trust is delighted to be administering the Tam Tod Fund, on behalf of those friends and family of Tam Tod.

In Tam’s memory, an award will be made each year to the most improved, and most committed, young country sportsperson in Scotland, which will be awarded through existing youth schemes. The remainder of the fund set up in Tam’s name will be dedicated to introducing new young people to the countryside in a way that Tam would have wished.

In 2009, the first ever Tam Tod Award will be presented this year on the Scottish Countryside Alliance stand at the Scottish Game Fair at Scone on Saturday 4th July at 12.30pm. It will be presented to the most improved young person to have completed the Angling for Youth Development Course.
