Now that the season has officially started the fishing at Wellsfield was very positive this week. The weather is much better and all three lochans fished very well this week with over 300 trout caught. There were some good initial hatches of flies on the sunnier days. The increased stocking program continues with Brown Trout, Blue Trout and Rainbow Trout between 3lb and 15lb.
An amazing FIVE specimen trout over 8lb were caught this week from the fly ponds, which is great for early March:
Mr Graham Dow (Denny) landed a nice 11lb 5oz rainbow on Saturday in his 4 for 18lb 12oz using fly and also bagged a further 3 for 9lb on Sunday.
Mr M Brownrigg (Callander) 3 for 16lb, best 10lb 8oz rainbow,
Mr Smith (Shotts) landed a fine 9lb 6oz rainbow trout.
Mr K McDonald (Falkirk) netted a 9lb 6oz rainbow on Saturday in his 3 for 14lb 8oz using fly.
Mr D Patterson (Menstrie) caught a 8lb 12oz rainbow in his 3 for 16lb 8oz.
One Yellow Prize Tagged Trout was caught this week from the fly pond by lucky angler Mr Graham (Falkirk) using powerbait winning him £50.
