Three specimen trout were caught this week at Wellsfield. Mr Walker (Larbert) landed a fine 12lb 2oz rainbow in his 2 for 15lb 2oz midweek using the fly. Mr Marshall (Falkirk) landed a fine 10lb rainbow using powerbait in his 4 for 19lb from the bait pond. Mr Budgie (Camelon) landed a cracking 8lb rainbow in his 4 for 17lb 8oz on Saturday.
All three ponds are fishing very well both fly and bait anglers. Many fish in the 4lb – 5lb range were caught with an average catch of 3.5 fish per angler. Some fine Rainbows and , Blues were caught.
Fly fishermen found a floating or intermediate line with fry imitations, sparklers, cats, damsels, fritzes and buzzers worked best. Bait anglers found powerbait, maggots and small spinners worked best.
One Yellow Prize Tagged Trout was caught this week by lucky angler Mr Dennis (Kincardine) from the bait pond winning him £50.
