All 3 lochans are crystal clear. Evening sessions are excellent and the ponds are moving with rising trout taking emerging flies and buzzers on the surface.
Rainbows and Blue Trout and Brown Trout, average weight of 3lb 2oz with many in the 4lb – 6lb range were caught.
One double figure specimen trout was caught this week by Mr McDonald (Larbert), who netted a nice 13lb rainbow in his 4 for 23lb 8oz using small goldhead lures.
One Yellow £50 Prize Tagged 6lb Trout was caught from the top fly pond by Mr Hughes (Kincardine) using a Black Nomad.
Fly fishers are finding a floating line worked best with hoppers, dancers, montana nymphs and snatchers. Bait anglers found maggots, powerbait and spinners worked best.
