Fishing report for week ending 16th March, 2013 by Anne Mary Woodcock

Despite cold and wet fishing conditions Witton Castle Lakes has continued to fish well with 45 anglers catching 236 fish this week.

Best fish have been a fish estimated at 12lb caught by Mr George Oliver of Durham on a small pheasant tail nymph and a 9lb fish caught by Mr A Brough of Bishop Auckland on a damsel nymph.

Top rods this week have been regulars Ryan Mathews and John F Walker both returning  15 fish each on damsels, bloodworms and humungus. Father and son team Brian and Marcus Wood had 26 fish between them on buzzers and pink bloodworms.

Best flies have been pink, red and yellow bloodworms, wicked whites and wicked reds, black buzzers, olive damsels and zonkers.

Best tacticts have included slowly retrieved buzzers and lures either pulled fast or a quick figure of eight retrieve on floating or slow intermediate lines.
