Fishing report from Witton Castle lakes for week ending Sunday 1st April, 2012

Sport unaffected as catches boom

Anglers have enjoyed some excellent hatches this week resulting in a two fold increase at the lakes to 158 visiting anlgers. Averaging 3.2 fish per customer.

Current water levels have not been affected during this dry spell, maintaining consistent sport. Black and olive buzzers are catching lots of fish and those who have reached their 15 bag limit have caught on small shuttlecock and f fly imitations.

Anglers fishing drys have also taken advantage of some great top-of-the-water fishing from flourishing hatches of pond olives.

Witton Castle lakesWest Lake & Big Lake have fished well. Mr P Bilbrough & Mr A Scott (see photo –>) landed rainbows up to 8lb using black buzzer and hares ear respectively.

The top four flies currently are; Black Buzzers, CDC’s, Hares Ear and Shuttlecock’s.

The tagged fish remains uncaught and the prize total stands at a cool £150.00.
