Increase in anglers & rod average this week as weeds are being cut. Report w/e 27/07/2012

Report by Anne Woodcock

Witton Castle Lakes welcomed more anglers this week as weeds are now being cut on a daily basis. 86 anglers enjoyed some excellent sport on the fly increasing the rod average to 2.79, we expect this to rise as more fish including blue rainbows are being stocked in all lakes this week.

Fishery officer John Renshaw reports: ‘Fish are feeding on and just below the surface. The East lake is continuing to fish well, Mr Buglass caught a specimen 8lb and 4 3/4lb rainbows within his bag limit. Mr Garson caught a 4lb rainbow on West Lake. Mr Walton caught his bag limit on CDC’s and said even though the fish are not rising you can still use dry’s as fish are coming to surface to take dry’s.’ (image)
