Not tried that Island...but go to Tenerife alot, and it's the same...watched alot of the chap's fish and it's like Coarse fishing in the sea...and thats what gear they use..light rod, small hooks, bread, chopped sardine and squid is the bait for most...when you go to the harbour in the morning when the local's are selling there catch it like lifting your keep net and they are all small fish....but these lad's go out in 14/18ft boats into waspy and swelling sea's everyday...so they must make a go of it...the land off all them islands drops off very sharply into 100's of mtrs of water...as for fishing Grouper...these can grow huge....they have lip's like car tyres....went to Portimao once and they was Grouper at 85 kilo plus and Conger to 130lbs on a nite trip..not far off the beach ...they live in the cave's and hole's underneath...them big Grouper was about 24" across the head...you could and should'nt kill them as they are ..getting away from this just cooked my mum...OAP plus....Grilled whitby Cod,southwold Bass.scots salmon..in a white wine sauce with prawns...mine is later...thanks Graham
