    No Problem Ant,

     

    Like I said though, what's your budget.

     

    Do you already have another vehicle you use on a daily basis, if so why not sell that and put the money towards a decent 4x4 that can do both the fishing trips, holidays and daily running around.

     

    Do you actually need a proper 4x4 or will a 4x4 Estate car do, something like a Subaru Legacy, or even (dare I say it) Skoda Octavia :headhurt:.

     

    I even once had one of those funny Renault Scenic RX4's.

     

    All my mate's took the p*ss so it had to go but at the time did everything I wanted, you can move the rear seats back and forward for extra leg room or boot space, or remove each of the 3 individual rear seats to leave a complete flat loadspace, loads of storage everywhere, including underfloor. At time, tested Freelander, Rav4, CRV and other "soft roaders" it had more space with more useable interior and was much more car like and comfortable to drive. (Shame about the looks and being a Renault) Wasn't too bad off road either after fitting a decent set of all terrains.

     

    You could always sell your fishing gear, house, wife and kids and get a new Range Rover.!!! :yeah:

    What sort of money are you looking to spend??

     

    So many different vehicles out there it really depends on your needs.

     

    Are you just going to use it as a pure fishing vehicle, do you want to do a bit of greenlaning, will it be doing the Tesco run each week, will it be used for towing, etc. etc. etc.

     

    If your not going to do many miles in it then the amount it does to the gallon shouldn't worry you too much, as this will be offset by the premium you will pay for a diesel over a petrol.

     

    I wouldn't go for a petrol 1.8 Freelander, the Rover engine as everyone else has said has loads of Headgasket problems. I have a Series II 4.0 Litre V8 Petrol Discovery, so not biased against Landrovers.!!

     

    Older Discovery's do monster miles if Serviced correctly, although you need to know a good cheap independent specialist in case anything does go wrong. (2nd Gear on Gearboxes common fault)

     

    Shogun's can be costly if things do go wrong. Also check on insurance if you go for an import not sure if it will make much difference.

     

    Loads of choice out there.

    Was very happy, was quick to put up, nice and tall but it did leak slightly from the stitching around one of the base supports so it's going back. :wallbash:

     

    May get another though cos it's a really nice bit of kit, maybe I just got a Friday afternoon one. :angry:

    Hi All,

     

    Just thought I'd give you an update.

     

    Managed to use the Hyperloop "in anger" this weekend, had a couple of Carp rods out, but noticed a few coming up for the odd dog buscuit I was throwing in.

     

    Set the Hyperloop up 6lb line, a controller float and stuck a No.8 with a dog buscuit on and cast it out.

     

    8 Carp later time to go home. Smallest 7lb, biggest just under 12lb, really surprised how well the rod stood up to the challenge.

     

    When I first used it on much smaller fish the other week I really thought it would struggle on anything bigger, I shouldn't have worried, it performed well beyond my expectations.

     

    Great all round rod, especially at that price.

     

    Doubt anyone that managed to get one will be dissapointed.

    Which quick errect Brolly/Bivvy for £100.

    I've been doing a bit of phoning around this morning seeing what shops recommend.

     

    Think I'm going to go for the Nash 60" Oval Profile Special.

    Managed to get it including Ground Sheet, Storm Poles zip on sides, pegs etc for £100.

     

    Anyone got anything bad to say about it.???

     

    Apparently it fold up quite nicely to go into a holdall aswell??

    Hi All,

     

    Anyone know what the best quick errect bivvy is for up to £100.

     

    May consider a brolly system with sides, mainly for day sessions but might do the odd overnighter.

     

    Want something Tallish at least 1.4m high to be able to sit in in my chair.

     

    Had a quick look at the JRC Roamer and Daiwa Mission overnighter, not actually seen them in the flesh.

     

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi All,

     

    Just to let you know, tried the rod out yesterday.

     

    For the money I was quite impressed, although I only had carp up to 3.5Lb it seemed to handle them ok, if anything it could do with being a bit more powerful for bigger fish but for £22.49 can't grumble.

     

    I suppose I will only know what it's like when I actually hook something a bit larger but definately a good rod for the money.

    Hi All,

     

    Just to let you know after saying about the Argos Shimano Hyperloop 390 being only £22.49, I thought I'd give it a go, can always use it as a spare if I don't like it.

     

    I must admit although I have not yet fished with it, it does look and feel very good value and does seem to have a bit of power too.

     

    Still have to fish with it before I know for certain how it performs.

     

    Thanks for all your advise.

     

    If I don't get on with it I'll be back asking about the other rods again. :wallbash:

    Cheers, must admit am tempted, haven't heard anyone say anything bad about it yet. (apart from 2 people that have broken the end off)

     

    Was looking to spend up to £100 but may just give the hyperloop a go, at that price would be silly not to.

     

    Anyone used the Map Ultra II of TF Gears match rods.?

     

    Also is that right the ABU Esprit got a 50 out of 50 in a recent magazine review. Can get one of those cheap at present.

     

    Keep the advise coming. Need to get one for the weekend.

    Just looked on Fishingmagic.com, was surprised to see the Shimano Hyperloop 390 FA Match Rod seemed to get good reviews, despite been cheap.

     

    Does anyone know how good or bad this is, only Argos got half price sale on it £22.50, nearly worth buying it to try and keeping it as a "spare".

    Hi,

     

    Looking to buy a new match rod, I want one that I can use for "all occasions", that will quite happily cope with small silverfish up to 10LB + carp.

     

    Anyone any ideas or recommendations.

     

    Looked at M.A.P. Ultra 2 medium power float and TF Gear's Starving Whippet 13' Match.

     

    Looking to spend up to £100.

     

    Any help appreciated.
