hi guys
been looking at various dry cags and am really stuck at the minute with regards which to buy ?
i have seen a lot of the brands and the yak khanga really stands out as it has a velcro adjustable neck (i hate close things around my neck)
but is it really a dry cag or just a spay/ touring cag.. ?
has anyone got any reccomendations to a dry cag with an ajdustable neck..
ive read the various posts on what to wear on the ocean and am now at the sticky point between choosing and buying..

Prowler 13 for sale...
The boat was bought new, by me, in February 2006 and is in excellent condition.
It comes fitted with a Humminbird (Pirahna Max10) fish finder, an anchor pulley system already rigged, a Scotty (fly rod) mount up ront and a padded seat. It is also the angler version so has the the recessed tubes behind the seat as well as the tackle box up front... All you need is the paddle!
£350

Hi Carl
I shall be around all winter, so just get your posts up to 15 and we'll sort something out.
Niko might be sorted by then with his Malibu and we can have a bash ! May even get Martin to have a go for a winter fish.
Were your 70lb Tope out on the Patches?
nifty
the largest was out on patches. butwe have had a few through the gap .
my best this season was about 65lb up at barmouth reef takes a while to get there but some good sport to be had up there if you dont mind the ride

hi m8
id love to take up your offer of a try in your yak and should hopefully be in aber the next three weekends.
i have caravan on the morfa bychan (rhydefelin) site and am really getting excited about doing some kayaking we normally do our fishing via boat as we have a a boat with a mooring in aber harbour and have caught some beautifull fish on all sorts of marks in the area inc patches, barmouth reef area, including some large
tope to 70lb + .
i have seen a couple of kayakers launching from our site ( "welsh hot tubs" you know who you are) and have been itching to ask them for a paddle with them but aint had the bottle for fear of being cheeky.
i could of cried last sunday when they were launching last sunday evening and i was getting ready to go home.
do you live in the area as i am sure you could help my choice of yak out ,knowing the area and weather changes etc
i would pm you but a 15 post limit is applicable and i wont post for the sake of it , if i aint got any positive input i wll remain anonymous to the mods..
here is my email addy should you be available in the next three weekends sarah1@nildram.co.uk
if not good luck and tight lines m8
and enjoy your fishing , you only get one stab at life so seize it with both handsand wind in when youget some slack

thanks again for your replies
i plan on fishing really with only the basics on board ( couple rods and tackle box etc )
i am thinking about using thigh straps for my stability and so i can roll it back , does anyone else use them or have any views on using them..
does anyone on here fish the aberystwyth area as i have seen a couple of kayaks by rhydefelin and would like to know a bit about the area if you would care to share any info

I've just had two weeks in Aberporth, lovey down there. I envy you, it's a fabulous coastline. Everyone seems to go yakking, to look at the dolphins!
Best of luck, I've just started yakking in Kent, after getting the bug in Wales.
thank you for your replys they are appreciated
ive just been to west midland canoe centre and had a sit on a 13 prowler and felt quite big , only thing i wasnt struck on were the ribs where your legs are .
something keeps telling me to view a 120 tarpon (i dont know why).
has the tarpon got a tri hull style bottom or is it the same as a prowlers?

hi guys.
after reading as much as i could on kayaks and there specs, i have reached the point where i am ready to splash the cash but am still totally unsure of which yak to get.
i am 6 ft 2" and weigh about 15 stone, i plan to use the yak for a few hours at a time and occasional long session fishing for bass etc (nothing too big tope etc) , i will be fishing around the coast of aberystwyth (rhydefelin) sp.
and have a holiday home right next to the sea so it would probably get a lot of use.
i dont really want to buy the cheapest and then have to upgrade because i am unhappy with it.
i have looked at :
Perception Caster 11.5 & 12.5.
Perception Freedom Angler.
Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 Angling Edition.
The Wilderness Systems Tarpon .
which is the best out of these

hi m8
where are you based ??
dry cags
in Kayak Fishing

thanks for the fast replys they are appreciated
i looked at the kestrel dry cag trousers as they looked quite smart and felt okay.
i really dont think i could get used to wearing a full suit for yakking as it must sound silly but i hate being enclosed and feel that a full suit would put me off the idea of going yakking and having to encase myself into a full suit,
i feel i might get use from a 2 piece suit as i can wear just the trousers in the warmer weather and both in milder conditions .
is the khanga really a dry kag or a tourer type cag ?
i know i should really be looking at drysuits but i know i could not wear it and i am looking for the best alternative which i think is a 2 piece cag set
