Anyone done the Hotliquid 1 day course at Southampton or can recommend an alternative?

Thanks Darnsarf will investigate further on the tuition. Comments on the Lifeline appreciated, I can now see the potential pitfalls, definitely helps to have these things explained. Phooey, I met Richi a few weeks back, it's following his exploits and and a couple of work colleagues that has given me the bug, I'll certainly be contacting him once I'm up and running.

A big Hi to all and what a great forum. I'm hoping to be regular contributor and add to this vast resource. Currently, I'm trawling through all your wise words on safety, clothing and trip planning and am looking forward to buying all the bits. Have ordered a couple of books on Kayaking and sorted out the garage for storage. Experience to date has been watching from the shore while being outfished and a breif outing in my local harbour (Christchurch) in a Caper and a Prowler 13 on a sunny afternoon. My first question concerns the locality, can anyone recommend a basic Yak seamanship course in the area of Chrsitchurch, Bournemouth & Poole? My next question is more specific and concerns Lifelines, why is it not advisable to be tethered to the Yak, I remember Wind Surfing many years ago and having a tether, in my case this came in very useful.
