Hi & welcome to sunny Dorset.

I'm not supposed to put links to other forums in here but suffice to say if you Google WSF and look in the South Coast forum you'll find loads of info on fishing in Poole, Bournemouth and surrounding area. But don't hold your breath as its not the best shore fishing in UK. If you can travel a bit (E or W) or get out on a boat its much better but the beaches are pretty barren most of the time.

    Good luck

  2. hello all , iv been away working in canada for the past 6months and am due to return in 4 weeks to a nice and warm england (compaired to the snowy minus 20 weather out here).

has any one in the south of england got any catch reports ? looking arroun Dorset Area and chesil.

have the flounders started to run yet?

is there any cod being caught (and released i hope) at chesil?

i will be spending a good week fishing chesil poole and bournemouth beaches after i have blown the dust of my xodus rods.

thanks all hope your fishing has been good and fish stocks are still on the up!

Welcome home. I thought the fishing was good in Canada? Maybe you should have stayed ;-)

There's lots of reports of cod (ling) from Chesil and also Solent beaches and further East but E. Dorset beaches seem barren.

The best site for reports is worldseafishing.com. Also try beachandboat.co.uk.

    Cheers

  3. A few months back the government announced a proposal to investigate ways of improving the recovery of unpaid tax. Now I know that nobody on here would deliberately delay or avoid paying tax but accidents do happen. The proposal includes HMRC ("the revenue") being able to tap into your bank account direct without the need for a court order.

The details are here (see chapter 5) http://tinyurl.com/349wag.

While I am all for cost savings and efficiency in the bureaucratic machine I do have major reservations about this one. I am not self employed and never been a defaulter but despite this a few years back was subjected to aggressive and insulting threats by an agency employed by the IR to recover overdue tax. In fact, as I was working overseas I was waiting for other parties to provide information but the IR was not interested - they threatened to knock the doors down and sell my stuff to get their money. This was particularly worrying as I was out of the country and I did not want my wife and children faced with this trauma. I suspect that the aggro and delay incurred by the need for them to to get a court order was what saved us but if the current proposal goes ahead they willl just help themselves electronically. It might be less confrontational but just imagine trying to explain to your morgage lender why their DD was rejected?

I am not about to tell anyone what to do - decide for yourselves - but on p.5 of the doc is the details on how to respond.

Apologies if you have already seen it on WSF or B&B but if not here's the link to see other people's comments http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75607

  4. I just remembered I had taken the memory card out to lend to someone and not re-inserted it. Have now done so and pics return to normal but that does not explain it for me. Will check the menu options as suggested.

    Thanks all

  5. My camera (Kodak DX6490) has suddenly started taking pics with a heavy blue tinge - see att. egs.

I guess something has failed preventing it picking up the red parts of the spectrum but does anyone have anything more specific? Does it point to a particular fault? Anyone else experienced similar?

    Many thanks in anticipation
