Looks like price has just dropped! Nice looking pin

Aye you'll find the front end of that eel was most likely a different story to the back end

Well I'll be damned. Obviously didn't wa it for long enough. Just gave it a good blow with the hair dryer again whilst spinning. After that took it apart, wiped it down, re-lubed with yellow label and spun it again. Spins for 2 mins now!

Hi chavender. Thanks for the advice, warming the bearings up made no noticeable difference. However, if I loosen the drag knob, and allow it to spin slightly proud from the back plate it goes on for 1min 20 seconds! So bearings are fine. It appears to be contact between the spool an the spindle the significantly reduces it.
It was a second hand purchase off eBay but seems brand new

Just to tag on to this one, I have an okuma sheffield that is 'only' spinning for 30 seconds. Not quite what I expected reading previous discussions. Any info regarding reel lubrication etc

The all new modified sheffield. Nice work...

I bought a sheffield on eBay last week for 72 pounds. It has a tiny mark on it other than that as new. Highly recommend it, spins freely and feels solid. A bargain, have a look on eBay....

I'll be popping along, hoping to have a play with the centrepins on offer, and say hi to the legend himself

That's just pure filth! I want one

I've learned never to mention a venue. If people know it, they know it and possibly know the potential. If people don't know the stretch, I won't be sharing it to them.
Thanks for the comments, much appreciated

A lovely stretch

Fished it last year...
Been available to me for the last couple of years

Thanks for the feedback rusty. Problem is I move swims all the time, and it would take a while to explain each time , and I don't know when I'm going to catch! But I'll give it a try next time out

Dace?
in Coarse Fishing
Posted
The river wear and tees hold some big dace. There are occasions where you can find a shoal of dace in winter on the lower tees (where they migrate as the weather turns) that have a good head of 8 to 12 oz fish. The wear needs no introduction as a dace Mecca, having produced British records. I understand the shoals are still there, though the bags are decreasing.
