  1. Full angler specification (see Wilderness systems website) with additional full length anchor trolley system fitted to the port side.

    Also included;

Carlisle magic paddle with coiled leash

YAK pfd 50N (size X large)

YAK kaross splash cag (size X large)

    Eckla trolley wheels

    Malone autoloader Xv 'J bars'

All the above items are 16 months old and have been used no more than 20 times, they are all in very good condition having been washed down and stored in doors after use.

If you are looking for a good all round fishing kayak then you wont go wrong with the Tarpon 120 angler, it is very stable and the moulding and finish quality are first class, imo I have found them to be far superior to kayaks in the same price range.

I am asking £650 ono for this package, it will be cash on pick up only.

I am based in Llantwit Major, South Wales.

  2. Hello all,

Having failed to get any real interest in arranging a few meets last year, I thought I would try again, so there it is, anyone from the Vale want to get in touch and arrange an outing?

Im sure we can all learn something from each other????????????

  3. What for, where would you put all your catch if you have a good day, would they be for personal consumption as most if not all would be dead, what about undersized by-catch, concidered that. Just curious.

    Hi Barry,

I have considered the points you mention, the catch would be for my personal consumption (hopefully 2 outings a month would keep the freezer well stocked, we eat a lot of fish, 4 hungry kids and a wife to feed, we used to have a cheap supply from a local fishing boat, but he has recently retired and most fish is quite expensive to buy at the local fish market).

On a good day, I would utilize the forward hatch to contain the fish, other times I would just leave the fish by my legs as when fishing with a rod.

Undersize by-catch would be minimised by using larger hooks 4/0 & 5/0, I intend to drift with the longline for a few hours (which will be 100mtrs long and have 25 hooks) its not something that will be left overnight, so any under size fish will be released when the line is pulled in.

Im hoping to hear from people who are already doing this type of fishing as although I understand the theory I havent yet put it into practice.

    MARTIN KATH.

    Hiya Lads,

Sounds like you both had a good time, hey Martin, if you can give me a couple of days notice I will try and pop over to Newton with you (bloody work permitting!!).

    Gareth

After paying drive ahead to the sea. The slipway is to the right you cannot miss-it. Good parking.I have a Jackrussell who goes out on the kayak.

  6. Sounds good to me. I live central to all the places mentioned. St Brides bay would be one of my favourite places (from St Brides itself or Nolton Haven maybe), Dale is ideal for the haven. I'm hoping to get out most weekends if the weather ever allows it!

    Hey Pollacks,

Just read your post on the WSF site, well done mate, looks like your sorted, how did the anchoring go?

We are staying in Newport in June for a weeks holiday, you available for some fishing?

    Gareth

  7. Hiya lads,

Don't go panicking about your age men, Im 51 and certainly not an olympic athlete.

I was going to suggest meeting up this weekend but according to the forecast it isn't going to be ideal, better if we wait for a window in the weather (today would have been ideal).

Just out of interest, do you all have the appropriate kit to go to sea? ie, wet/dry suit, pfd (personal flotation device), paddle leash, foot wear, and hopefully hat, sunglasses and barrier cream!

Can you all swim a few strokes (not that we will be going into any great depth of water to start off, capsizing drills is something you need to be able to master, and being able to swim will make you feel a bit more comfortable while in the water).

  8. greetings, just joined myself, and am starting out from scratch.done a bit of research, and think im gunna get a trident what yak did you buy after and how you getting on with it.am living in bridgend not all that far from you, cant seem to find much interest round here though,as you probably gathered by all the replys youve had on here. a.t.b. carl..

    Hiya Carl,

Im in Llantwit Major, give us a call if you fancy a paddle.

    Gareth

  9. OK Pollacks & Brian the gas, if you are both beginners I guess the venue should be somewhere like Oxwich bay, its nice and calm and shallow (depending on the weather).

Lets see if we get a few more interested then we can get some dates together.

    Are you both fishermen?

Are you going to be available on weekends only?

    Gareth

  10. I posted a thread on here a while ago suggesting that anyone from the South Wales area who were new/old hands to kayak fishing that might be interested in arranging a few meets make contact so we could put some dates /venues together, well I reckon now is a good time.

So who is up for it?

  11. [hi im from hirwaun and im new to the kayak game just like you id also like to meet up with some freinds and set of finding it hard to get hold of people on here so contact me on gavin.sly@mail.com

    Gav, you have email.

  12. If any of you lads fancy driving another hour from the end of the M4 then you'd be welcome to have a fish with us. Mid Cardigan Bay area, not too much tide to contend with and reasonable fishing, depending upon what you want.

    Thanks for the offer nifty.

  13. Hi, like yourself, i'm new to this also. I bought my kayak last september and i've tried it out a few times (the last time in a ten foot swell off Aberavon) I'm from Neath and i agree with you about safety in numbers so when the weather breaks we'll have to give it a try.

    Hi Martinmoanna & Lloydus,

for some reason I cant PM you at the mo, definately keen to arrange a meet though, any suggestions?

  14. This is mostly directed at the kayak fishing fraternity living in or near South Wales (because thats where I am).

Anyone interested in getting some sort of regional club going? I mean, there are sea/course angling clubs all over the country, why not kayak angling clubs?

  15. Its me again,

Im interested in making contact with anyone from the south Wales area who are either part of a group or who are also wanting someone to go kayak fishing with (safety in numbers and all that), Im in Llantwit Major.
