  1. hi newbie at fishing and fishing this easter monday with the weater forecasting cold whatfish would it be best aiming for plz help :cold::cold:

if i was going fishing in these weather conditions i would be fishing for pike, but sen as it's around the time that they spawn i probably just go bit bashing take my float rod and a pint of maggots and maybe some bread crumb

  2. This is amazing....simple fact is that sometime or other and for whatever reason your line will snap. If you are using leadcore then a fish can/will/and actually do ((I have landed at least 3 fish this year towing leadcore), end up dragging it around.

Tubing will slip off and leave just the line being towed (had a few of them as well this year)

Lesser of 2 evils is to use tubing, but then it is a bit more difficult to set up or change rigs with tubing, isn't it, and when half the new generation can't even tie up their own rigs, leadcore with its loops already tied for them is ideal..............pure laziness..

    Den

Tubing can also trap air in it which then renders it useless, the whole point of using lead core/ tubing is to pin it down to the botom of the lake bed if tubing gets air trapped in it it will then float.

i don't see how it can be dangerouse if an angler knows how to attach it correctly, and uses a good main line to attach it too and is a good angler all round, i personally think if you splice your own lead core to your main line it's actually much safer and stronger than buying the ready made stuff which you attach loop to loop.

  3. Hurray for sarcasm <_< some of you guys are origional

anyway maybe i could have re worded it differently but i won't bother going back and doing so seen as some of you may feel i'm trying to crawl back out of what i said, but anyway i like to use lead core and i use it safly and have done for a couple of years now never once have i had a snap off never once have i had any problem with it, end of the day it does the job for me and i feel i use it correctly if it was as unsafe as some of you feel it is why is it permited ( not on all fisherys but most ) why do they sell it in the tackle shops we use ?

yes seen as non of you have exact proof this is unsafe and is damaging towards fish then all it boils down to is personal prefrence i prefer to use lead core some of you don't ! and until it's banned and illegal to use i shall continue to use it in the mannor i have been using it safe and correctly !

  4. hello all

I've done a search and read through a lot sof posts here - good forum btw

I'm shopping round for some carp gear, done a lot of sea fishing in the past using budget kit and some that's not so budget and come to the conclusion I'd rather pay the extra tenner or 2 and get kit that's nicer to use..but without breaking the bank.

it seems that everyone has an offer on..

It seems that the Wychwood rods have a good reputation, bit confused tho are Rage and Reaction better or worse than one another? either can be had for about the same price

seen these offers, what do you reccomend?

  5. Hi,

I've recently started carp fishing. I've had little success using spam on the hook. I've just been and bought a hair rig and some boilies. I'm confused as to whether I need a float? Could somebody please explain how my set up should be?

    Thanks

a good rig i tend to still use it's the more simple and very effective

depending on the size of the fish your catcing i use 18lb krystonite main line linked to lead core

with either a fixed weight or sliding weight to a 6-8" braid hooklink on a hair rig

here's a pic to best describe to you this is bang on exept no lead core, you use lead core to keep you link weighd down on the lake bed.

    it then resulting in this

  6. i use lead core myself i personally don't see how it's unsafe myself maybe you could explain, yes it's unforgiving and has no give what so ever but if your using mono you get the extra strech you need,

now in a result of a snap of using lead core with time the hooks will rust and break off this then resulting in no leadcore been dragged around and i'm pretty sure that if the same fish is caught again and still has the hook and core atached the angler lucky enough to catch it would do the humane thing and relive the carp of the hook.

i'm not shrugging off tubing tho i like the idea of using it but never really use it tho i like to splice myown lead core and use that.

  7. Bit of a difficult post this as so many different baits are equally as good as each other

the water you fish tends to differ as do the baits what one bait works well on one water may not nesserily work as well on another water.

but the baits which i tend to use more of would be boiles and pellets.

  8. Me and a pal are of for a full day session at the A1 pits in south muskham next friday

So i wondered if i could wang some bait infomation from anyone who's fished it ?

i spoke to the bailif over the phone and he mentioned that pit 3 was the one to fish at the moment with some good 20's geting haulled out.

    Dan.
