  3. Welcome to AN but...

...Whoa there mikethepike i am juinor to but i have gatherd enough experiance to know that little fish, roach, chub ect... Probaly dont want to eat the copiaons or 'Mum and Dad' cose if u where a fish and ur mum and dad had vanished and then u smelt them wrapped in breadcrumbs, u get my point.

Mind you a Pike or Trout ect... might take an intrest as they genaraly eat other fish but the ducks might come for the bread crumbs adding that all up....u carry the, to the mutiply it to the, take away and add the, and u get,

HE'S TALKING A LOAD OF GARBAGE MATE,

I advice some 'LiVe Pinkies' and for the so called 'Big Guys (fish)' catch some small ones with the pikies maybe a roach, wack its head against a stone to kill it them hook them up on a stronng line with a big enough hook for the bait to stay on and not to kill the 'Big Guys' and fish on out! I have never killed a fish but heck give it a go!!!

Try the reeds for the 'Small Guys' and a bit further out for the 'Big Guys'

    Hope this helps mikethepike,

  9. If these guys are genuinely youngsters in need of help and advice, then I hope they'll get it. I'd rather give them the benefit of the doubt, but then I am a bit of a softie!

If however, they are trying to wind us all up, as I and others suspect, then sorry guys, you'll have to do just a bit better than that!

If they're not for real, they'll vanish before long. Anyone remember the delectable Patrizia? Kept you buggers going for weeks! Did we ever find out who was behind it?

    Janet

How could you be soo mean to us and brit fredie, you should be glad that kids like me and fredie are intrested in becomeing true fisherman, and not jump to conclusions in such a sudden way.

Give us a chance and who-ever Patrizia is they are probaly just a 1 off, beacuse fishing isant just for adults but for children to.

    So give us a chance!

  10. Okie dokie the river ivel i'm assuming you mean common and back meadows and another section i forget name of lol. For back meadows and common you really cant get by with a whip if your after the chub , Knowing these venues aswell there very peggy for lots of water your only talking 20-30 pegs that produce on a regular basis all the way down to widow hay. If you go in Leslies and chat to Sam or Dave Sayce (if hes still there) They could give you tips on which pegs to fish with one of the maps they have. Water end fisheries i never fished before i moved so dont know much about it other than it has some decent carp in (again not to be attempted for with a whip) the hit and the flit are both very small streams that i never bothered with. from your venues i can approximate where in beds you are and clubs to consider joining would be luton ac (ipa affiliated and cheaper to fish tingrith) Ampthill ac (has ampthill res , plus a section of ouse at willington) blunham but not sure what they have and i think shefford has a club aswell.

Is leslies a fishing takle shop next to a fishing venue in shefford?

If it is (and please reply).

What wuold you rate it on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being the worse and 5 being the best)????

    Wolfie10

  11. Wolfie what venues are you fishing??? You can name the stretches then either i or a few others might be able to help you specifically with those areas. As i stated before i wouldnt consider a whip if i was after chub. Although you can bash out bleak on one in the summer you'll find them hard to find in the winter on the ouse. And it really is stck , waggler or bomb and feeder.

Ok venues i fish at, River Ivel-River Hilt

    River Filt

Maybe waterend fisheries 1,2 and 3

    Amd others in the area,

    Does this help?

    Wolfie10

  12. Even though I fish for pike much of the year the winter has a certain something special about it..also there's the added bonus that the cold brings by clearing the banks of kids & muppets lol

Take away that lol beacuse i am a KID and i fish too so i think you owe all the fishing kids an apoligy and all the others to get a fish (mutch more polite then get a life)

    Hope this corrects you,

    Wolfie10

  13. I would always suggest that you learn to fish with a rod and reel first. As far as I am concerned it is more versatile in that you can fish different methods for any fish that swims and as a beginner you can get away with less experience. A pole is more specialised and needs experience to get the best out of it. Used Tackle have a a float rod and a quiver rod on offer in Angling times this week at £20 each, I have two of the float rods and for that money they are brilliant. They will handle small stuff but will also cope well with bigger fish, I have had carp to 12lbs on mine. don't get carried away by thinking you need to spend big money on tackle to catch fish, I have only one rod that cost over £50 (a John Wilson quiver which I hardly use) the rest cost between 20 and 35 from Used Tackle or Shakespeare, not much bank cred but they do what it says on the tin!

I have started with a rod and weel i have to of them and have never cought a fish,

    |HOWEVER when i did pole fishing with a whip i cought more fish in one day then someone else could stitting in the same spot aka (me-10 fish) (other fisherman-1 pike)

    DO YOU GET MY POINT,

  14. I am going to a takle shop on saturday the 10th so i was wondering,

What makes of poles or whips should i look out for i will need a good viarety of poles and whips beacuse the takle shop might not have 5 of my picking :wallbash:

:sun: Lets hope its sunny and i might be able to go fishing :sun:

:camera: Maybe some pictures for you all when i get back.

And then again if it isant sunny :sun: Then that weather lady's HAD it :schmoll:

Mainly cose i aint to keen on real fur,

    aka wolfie10/animal lover.

But i dont find killing fish

  16. Is it kinda cheap cose i am a bit limited budget of 3o pounds, plus it is pole fishing witch is my bad experiacnce not rod and weel fishing, alothough i hav only ever couaght something on a pole.

Do u recomend the pole in my ADVICE NEEDED page?

  17. As you mention in another post that you fish the Great Ouse in Bedfordshire what about going after the chub that abound there. Perhaps you would be better getting a rod like the John Wilson Avon Quiver which gives you the choice of two different tops; a standard Avon top plus a Quiver tip. this type of rod allows you to float fish for the big roach and chub with the normal Avon top or the quiver tip for ledgering for them.

I belong to St Albans Verulum AC with have a few sections on the great Ouse above bedford which holds huge barbel but this rod is a bit undergunned for these; however; it is great for fishing for Chub, Roach, Bream that inhabit this river.

    tight lines

    Thanks, Jhon Wilson Avon Quiver?

Sorry i am new to fishing
