  1. You can use bite alarms without a baitrunner reel, you could just loosen the clutch off, but in this way you have to remember to tighten it up when striking. With a bitrunner all you have to do is a quick twist of the reel handle and the clutch engages, which is in my opinion a lot easier, and you all you have to do is flick the switch to turn the baitrunner on.

  2. Lots of kids are taken fishing at very young ages by dads/uncles/grandads etc.

    That doesn't count :):):)

How old were you when you first went fishing on your own ?

In my case I was seven - and I made my own gear. Fished either on my own or with one or two mates of the same age or no more than a year older.

My parents were absolutely against fishing.

I started fishing when I was 13 with my friends, and my Dad has never been fishing. :P

  3. Hey

I come from Medway in Kent and mostly fish the waters around there. My favourite local water is Chequer Tree Fishery. I mostly go carp fishing but I also enjoy float fishing for silverfish. :)

I am also a member on FishingMagic but this forum seems to be more active. I also recently started a new site for Kent Fishing (http://kentfishing.webs.com) B)
