  1. Simon!!

There is a simple way of deciding whether it's time to get up.

Lie perfectly still in a comfortable position (no part of your body feeling cold) with your eyes closed.

Count slowly to 200 at about 1 second intervals.

If you move at all, restart the count.

When you have got to 200 it is time to get up.

You won't get any of the problems associated with getting up in a hurry.

If you have fallen asleep before you get to 200, it is not time to get up.

Try it on Sunday morning first.

If this test results in you getting up too late, then go to bed earlier.

  2. A few years ago I was burgled and most of my rods were stolen.

One was in as new condition and had never been used since I bought it 30 years before.

It was a Webley and Scott coarse rod that I was going to use for mullet fishing.

Such a rod would probably be of interest to collectors but I suppose it was sold for a few quid for a drug fix.

I would be interested to know if anybody has ever seen a rod of the same make anywhere, though there's no much hope of identifying it.

Also stolen was my Spindrift Bass rod by B James and sons.

Lord only knows what the replacement costs would be now!!

The HEX values you want are 99 (ascii 153)for the o with 2 dots and 9A (ascii 154)for the u with 2 dots. These are for CAPITALS, deduct decimal 6 from each figure for lower case.

It's on page D2 of the City & Guilds Networks module documentation (Module 227).

  6. I know a lot of fishermen do not like those who they see as 'Toffs on Horses', but they are not the only people who will have something to march about in London on September 22nd.

The same people who want to stop hunting, want to stop fishing as well as shooting also.

Don't be complacent just because fishing is safe at present, things can change.

Who would have thought, 40 years ago, that pubs would be allowed to stay open all day or that drugs might be legallised or the monarchy might by abolished or pension schemes would go bust.

    Have a look at http://www.march-info.org

The easiest and most efficient way to get rid of magpies (and Crows) is the use of Larsen traps. The birds will protect their terratory against intruders. You put the trap containing a magpie from somewhere else in the area you wish to clear of magpies or crows and, if left quiet, you will have the resident pair within a couple of hours, sometimes 20 minutes.

These traps are available from advertisers in magezines like shooting times, but you should be able to borrow one for a weekend from a local gamekeeper. Contact BASC http://www.basc.org.uk or the game conservancy (http://www.game-conservancy.org.uk) who used to supply plans for making them. They measure 32" X 32" X 20".

After the first year of cotrolling magpies and crows, an area should hold 80% more songbirds. This might mean an increase in other sorts of natural predators such as sparrow hawks and after a few years the numbers of songbirds have been seen in tests to maintain a 30% increase over the pre-control period.

If you, or your neighbours, do not like the idea of a caged wild bird as a decoy, I have found that newly-born rabbits (Dead Of Course) are very effective bait.

Eggs full of super glue might work!!!!!!
