  1. Hi fellow fishermen/women

the weather is starting to perk up and my book is up for renewal at NAA.

i only ever went to the duck ponds and kodak lakes because of distance as i live in the NG15 area.

im looking for somehwere different, there is 1 place next to the duck pond but i cant afford the price they are asking for.

im not too keen on the pond hucknall anglers have either.

im looking for somewhere kinda quiet or somehwere that allows spinners.

i did come across this place https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.0573903,-1.2350372,15z but i cant find any info on it.

if anybody here knows of this place or anywhere else thats worth a try please let me know,im itching to get back out there again.

    cheers

    cod.

  2. Which of all of our tv fishing show celebrities

would be the best all round Angler

From Carp specialist to dry fly expert ?

One has got to be the Best !!!!!!!!

    so who is it ???

    Personally i like Matt Hayes

ive always watched fishing but never did it till this year, but out of all the shows ive watched and fishermen ive heard of Jeremy Wade gets my vote.

hes from good old blighty so he grew up carping and coarse fishing to bobs uncle ect.

hes a biologist and speaks several languages and hes the one to go to if you have heard of a river monster somewhere in the world.

and he will wait and wait for that fish till his clothes erodes off (which happend on one of TV episodes called river monsters)

and a nice little intro for series 1

  3. yeah thats the place,my wifes grandad lives there and we are going up for the week to see him and the sunday is my fishing day lol.

ive read a few sites that have mentioned parts of fishing but i thought who else better to ask than the good folk right here.

  4. Hi all,

i will be going on holiday in august and on the 18th i will be going sea fishing from south shields pier,im only allowed to go on that one day as its a family holiday and not a fishing holiday unfortunately.

ive never been sea fishing befor and dont have the money to splash out on a new rod and reel and line so will be having to use my carp rod lol.

i will pick up 1 or 2 lures and was thinking about trying to catch some red cod.

id really appreciate if any of you fellow anglers could give me some hints, tips on what lure to get, where to go,what to fish for ect.basically anything you can tell me lol.

    cheers for reading.

And on another note,i smashed my record of 14 fish at the weekend,i was fishing at kodak lakes in annersley and caught (for me) an impressive 33 fish consisting of roach, perch 1 golden orfe (i think) and 3 tiny little baby gudgin, well i think they was, they was only about 3 inch long and they was long thin slightly spotty and a weird rubber feeling belly on it. woohoo to me hahaha

  5. Try looking up fishing 'on the drop' with a float and loosefeeding 'little and often'. That's about as close to being active as it gets with a float rod and if it's frantic enough, probably even more so.

thats what i was doing last weekend and ended up with 14,my best yet,it was a matt hayes DVD on youtube that gave me that idea of throw in maggots round your float little but often and it will work them up into a frenzy, bloody worked too lol.

    @AddictedToScopex

yeah that sounds about right,im ok to use deadbait :)

  6. cheers phone,

i spoke to an older bloke last night who fishes at the duck ponds too and i thing he said it was a pike wobbler or some thing.

but given the info i have read from you guys, ive either got it wrong or the lads who was using it was lying about it lol.

i will be going to the trent for more spinner.

thanks for the advice fellas, and happy fishing :)

  7. thank you guys for all the feed back.

its a SPINNER i have, the rules says no spinners, lures or live bait.i just like the idea of spinners cuz it keeps you active rather than just sitting and waiting.

my mind wanders quite easily and tend to get abit impatient when float fishing or carp fishing.

ooo yeah the trent,i could try here, will look up on the rules for it.

  8. thank you for the reply's fellas, much appreciated :)

I don't think i'm struggling much,at first caught two then zero and bobbed around abit then recently i had 14 then 7 other day which was really good.

im not after anything, just happy with what ever comes along on my red and bronze maggots.

i've tried sweetcorn, spam prawns ect only seem to get bites with red and bronze maggots oddly lol

i was after a carp fish for a few trips with a carp rod and rig and have had zero bites, not disappointed tbh.

i just like the idea of casting and retrieving and constantly being active, don't get me wrong,i like the float fishing, its the reason i have caught anything so far haha.

when i got toold and read the rules properly i was a tad gutted i couldn't use the spinner and then not long after i saw some people doing what to me looked like spinners,so i thought who better to ask than you guys here :fishing1:

  9. Hi guys, I'm new to fishing and only been on it for about 2 months.

I've joined Nott's AA and go to the duck ponds quite often (about once a week).

i get board sitting there watching a float and im gagging to use my spinner to break up the waiting times between bites.

I'm not allowed to use spinners there though.

can anybody tell me where i CAN use spinners please?

also there is something similar to spinners that some people use to catch pike i think.

can anybody tell me what it is please? all i know is its not a spinner or a lure as these are not allowed there but this other pike thingy that you keep casting out and reeling back in is allowed,i just don't know what it is lol.

thanks and i look forward to some replies.

    regards

    cod P.
