Hmmm, it looks almost impossibly to upload the image.... Youll have to imagine the fish...;)

  3. Hello, the summer in Sweden hars been fabulous, the fishing and the weather... Eel caught yesterday, 5,07 pounds. Enjoy. The look in my eyes is said to be "religious" but is only the result of reducing red eyes in photoshop;)

  4. Well its a coarse fishing trip so the main targets will be the bream, ide, tench and roach. May do a bit of spinning for the pike / zander also. Bob Nudd stayed at the cottage a few years back & the reports are he caught well on both the lakes and the river that runs through saafle (well he would being world champ) - lots of ide from the river.

Jim - Saafle is located in Varmland, did you fish at Vastervik ?

Jan - Pers House is located at Signebyn right on the lake there (hope the mozzies aren't bad !)

    All your help appreciated

Sorry Steve, im no expert on Säffle, Im located near stockholm, a long way from Värmland. The ony knowledge I have is the one above, but, i´ll try some of my friends, maybe i´ll get lucky. When are you leaving?

  6. The Oland Islands if I've spelt them correctly.

Just add a couple of spots (Öland), great fishing there, mostly known for very big seatrout, second comes pike. Not far from Eriksberg.

  7. Nice fish and all that but do you really have to employ that silly Bass-grip that the Americans employ? Perch aren't Bass and I'm pretty certain their mouthparts aren't upto being handled like that.

I see what you mean and im no fan of it myself, but, if you hold the fish without twitching it sideways there is little to none risk. A perch full of eggs (is that the right word?) is much more vulnerable in the stomach regions than in the mouth.... in a perfect world w shouldnt be touching fish at all.

  8. The Baltic is possibly the only place in the world where you can catch pike on herring livebaits!

I fished there once, courtesy of Rapala and thus with lures, as a thank you for contributing a chapter to their UK book. We went in May and the pike fishing was out of this world!

Hi Steve, in which part of the Baltic did you fish?

  9. Went on a pike expedition this weekend. Me and my friends had the opportunity to fish Eriksberg, a small sheltered area of tbe Balitc sea that has been closed since 1940 due to biologic research. Only a few anglers are invited every year. Theese restrictions has resulted in a number o very big pike... The fishing was poor, mostly due to extremly cold water but we managed to catch 19 fish, topfish 15 and 14 pounds... more pics at http://www.jan-o.se/fiske Enjoy....

  10. The Killer is a well known "Killer" for especially seatrout in Sweden. But, I think that they changed the name a few years ago... looks a lot like a classic rapala wobbler (probably not a coincient).

  11. Well, we have ice for at least four months every year because of this icefishing becomes necessary if you want to fish at all during winterteime and by this keep sane... But, soon its time for big spring pike and seatrout in the Baltic sea, only a few weeks left and the ice will be melted.

  12. Further questions to either you or Newt.

What rods and reels would you use for such fishing.

Do you use those short rods we’ve all see on TV ads of Eskimos in the UK?

Are the reels the same as the ones you’d use when there’s no stiff water, or are they different ones?

We use the same reels but the rods are designed especially for icefishing.post-3321-1143646770_thumb.jpgpost-3321-1143646848_thumb.jpg

  13. Actually, this has happened quite a few years ago, during to lack of knowledge. A super zander got stuck!!! From that day and forward we use 200mm icedrillers (funny name, correct?), this is more than enough. All fish are c&r.
