  1. Yeah It wasnt great but when youve got the waterproofs on and under a brolly its not to bad....Untill a swan takes off right into your line dragging the rod in and forcng me mid shin deep to get it back. Wet feet all day, not to pleasent. A cuppa tea and Steak baggeutte from the river and rail cheered me up though

  2. Yeah It is a good thing, its just sometimes a really hard water. sometimes its a bite a chuck and other times not even a sniff and the carp only ever seem to get caught at night. Its still my favourite pool though

  3. I have access to a farmers pool that is 100mx20m going from 10 ft down to inches deep with an island towards the deep end.

This pool has a good head of small Roach, Perch and skimmer bream. It also has a few carp up to 15/20lb max.

The pool is stream fed from a very well know midlands pool and was dug out many years ago by the farmer. Im not sure if it was ever stocked or the fish got there by natural means but I would love to stock this pool with some more Tench, Bream and carp, What would be the proceeder for this and likely costs?.

Is this feasable on a small budget?

  4. Sorry for the short notice but tomorrow, well today we are planning on fishing Bridgenorth, either the Rowing club, The Park Slipway or some where near the second Bridge, I think its the bypass bridge for Barbel.

I have left overs of some sensas Halibut and hemp ground bait, some 12 mm Hallibut and some 15mm and 4mm Robin Red pellets alondg with some other Halibut pellets and some bread which I plan to blend up and add to my ground bait to bulk it out as I dont know of a tackle shop open in the area.

I have also heard that Hotdog Sausage has been catching around Iron Bridge

If anyone else has any ideas, tips (or secret techniques) it would be appreciated.

I have been fishing Hampton Loade lately and most of my Barbel fishing has been done in summer so litterally anyadvice would be fantastic.

    Thanks.

  5. I drove past the entrance to this place today and noticed a no night fishing sign and a staffs council sign but cant seem to find any more information on the internet about the place.

Im presuming they allow day fishing but does anyone know for sure or have any other information.

    thanks.

  6. I was thinking about that as they have some nice stretch of the Severn at Hampton Loade but do they allow guests as I would want to bring a friend or 2 along.

Edit - Just saw on the site they dont. might have to get to convincing my mates to buy a ticket then.

  7. Im after a stretch of river in the midlands area or anywhere up to 100mile max from the midlands that does a day ticket and allows night fishing for barbel chub etc.

Im not after secret spots or hot pegs becasue thats just cheeky, just a nice stretch of day ticket water. anyhelp would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  8. Washing up liquid is deffinately harmful to fish, i can vouch for this after all the fish in my garden pond died after a bucket of soapy water was knocked in while cleaning the bbq during the summer. Though obviously the liquid in the river would be much more diluted.

  9. Im off to fish a practically unfished exquarry on the weekend that apparently has some good bream and pike. Im not overly familiar with this place, infact the last time I blanked and this was about 7 years ago.

I was thinking of fishing a fresh shop brought mackerel dead bait with a feeder full of mashed fish for added attractant but on such a natural virtually unfished venue would I be better off using a natural dead bait such as a frozen roach from the tackle shop.

For the Bream I was planning an open ended feed with a size 12-16 hook with either corn or maggot or cocktail on the hook or a small robin red pellet on a hair as I have had success with these on another virtually unfished lake for the carp.

does anyone have any experience or tips to share on any other waters such as this?

  10. Line rental with TalkTalk is another 11.25/month. I make that 17.75 for phone + broadband.

Mobile broadband deals start at around £10/month for 1GB, £15/month for 3GB. No good for you.

I think im going to plump for the talktalk deal when my current internet runs away into the sunlight in 30 days

  11. That sounds like a good deal - I would be surprised if you can get any alternative connection type cheaper than that, mobile internet generally works out a lot more expensive and won't be as fast.

That seems to be the cheapest unlimited downloads deal - do you actually need an unlimited downloads? TalkTalk do 40GB/month for £6.49/month (also remember that unlimited isn't really unlimited, there's a fair usage policy).

which phone line do talk talk require?

after actualy readin up on the virgin deal it works out to £16 for 3 months then £23 after that. thats with the line rental included. which i didnt add in before

nvm just called them, their deal seems too good to be true. does any one have any experience with them?

  12. the problem is that my flat mate is moving out and taking the sky tv, talk and internet package with her and i wanted a cheaper alternative, but tbh i mihgt just plump for the virgin media service. I can get 8mb broadband, and a phone line for £5 first 3 months and 11 after on a twelve month contract.

So thats much cheaper than BT and there isnt a download limit.

  13. I have recently moved to the south, I am now less than an hour from Bournmouth and was thinking about trying my hand at a little sea fishing, so my question is....

Do any of you know of a good boat that would do tackle hire and day trips fora cheap rate, preferably sporting tackle as well, as i have been on holiday and been on boat trips before where they may just of well have used the anchor rope for the fishing line.

anywhere on the south would be cool, anywhere with a train statioon would be great.

  14. Does anyone know if it is possible or what provider can provide broadband without having to pay for a phone line?

hopefuly without using the mobile broadband thingys as as far as i can tell they all have download limits which is no good, and i cant use xbox live with them.

  15. far away

carp / catfish /camping badshot lea big pond ,nice cruc /tench stockbridge pond tilford FAS had plenty ,further afield but on bus routes are the frenshams and lodge

careful of the rivers some of the farmers can get very aggressive if you go strolling on their land (try up by the graveyard :whistling: ),have a peek at the river by the bridge into the maltings theres a fine shoal of chub there :)

the frensham small pond the members can park in the wardens car park but your right its tealeaf city out there and the big pond

i even hear we have still water barbel now :D:whistling:

Ive been walking the river regularly from around by the grave yard down to where the river meets the dual carrigeway (the back of dollis drive area....whihc incedentally looks fantastic for a bit of trotting) buti have seen loads of deccent chub.

the biggest i have seen have been the far end of gostrey meadows, just past the wooden bridge. I had a crack at them my self when i first moved to farnham., got up pre 6am and went for a wonder....had a small chub of about 1 n half pound. chuffed me to bits tho.

I literally live opposite the cobbett pub so the gostree's is like my garden and the graveyard is only 5 mins away.

  16. I have heard mixed things about the Frensham pools.

Talking to a die hard carper in the pub he told me that they were extermly hard waters, and that Frensham little pool had a reputation for being a bit dangerous, with the regulars making threats etc, I've even heard stories about peoples cars being done in there.

I dont know the truth in this and I wouldnt be carping anyway.

  17. cheers for the help.

the only problem with the clubs is that alot of the waters are not within the immediate locality.

(here comes the sob story lol) being a poor student, i dont have a car so cant travel to places easily.

i was thinking about a getting a good pair of chest waders and going for a paddle up and down the river wey with a stick float, which is literaly 30sec from me and i know from experience and sight contains a deccent head of nice chub.

  18. Does anybody have any experience of the gold valley complex?

Im new to the area, living in Farnham now and i have the River Wey right on my doorstep which is cool except its close season now.

Do they allow feeder rods as thats all I have brought to farnham due to limited storage space(and the river wey).....the rules say no but if you click on the lake description it says feeders are allowed??!!?

Is it a hard water to fish?

I though the bat lake looked interesting, has anyone else used it? if so then how did it fare?

gold valley website is here http://www.goldvalleylakes.com/

Are there any other waters in the area that are easily accesible by public transport/less than 45 mins walk from public transport/Farnham town centre?

    cheers.
