  1. Hi Thurso angler, i know the boat you mean, i'm sorry that you got had over.

! you cannot reef fish and shark fish at the same time you have to be drifting for shark just a money making scam.

we charge the same price for a trip whichever you want to you, max 10 anglers for shark fishing or 12 for reef fishing.

We try to avoid reef fishing at this time of year because basicly we would catch the same as you did.

Obviously when shark fishing not everybody catches but we do fish for mackerel, gars (a metre long) and Dorado in the summer whils waiting for the shark.

We are English skippers with an English boat and we offer a proper service, not just a tourist trap.

I hope it did not spoil your holiday :(

  2. We have caught two more 100lb plus Blue shark in the last week, one by Leigh on sea angler David Cousins at 110lbs and one today by 12 year old Sam Mackinnon with a little help.

The fishing is really buzzing here at the moment. :)

  3. We have had 3 100lb plus shark aboard my boat in the last three weeks, the best at 130lbs, and the last onr today was landed with a little help by 12 year old Sam Mackinnon and weighed in at 106lbs.

The fishing is really buzzing here at the moment :)

  4. Utiding in that depth, not sure about the tidal flow there but normally keep your trace length to 3-4ft of 30-50lb line as they can grind on it.

If your rod tip gives one nod, ignore it, you can vever give a thornback to much time.

As for bait check with your skipper but in the Thames herring, squid, mackerel, peeker crab all work well.

Please cjeck all this out with the skipper you are going with as tactics can vary in different area's.

    Good luck :)

  5. Hi cocky, in July you should be able to catch, Blue sharl, Mako shark, Dorado, BIg Garfish and matbe Marlin if you are lucky.

Pick and choose your boats, some are just tourist boats with about 20 people on at a time, try to find a proper angling boat (like mine).

From the beach/piers mainly small fish (sea Bream) better fishing at night, try cockles and prawns for bait found in any supermarket.

email me if you need any more info. :)

    Dave
