  2. went back friday blanked :( went back today same swim, one barbel no monster 6lb 12oz,but boy did it give me a fight!nice fish had a few fluke things on it?like leeches, but round and white in colour?strange.very happy bunny i am.did you go ed??

  3. i use braid for my pike fishing lure or dead/livebaiting,helps get them hooks home, plus i love it for drifter fishing,no s-t-r-e-t-c-h!

i also know some one who owns a carp lake, he bans braid hooklinks becuase they can cut the carps mout during th efight, the problems stem from people using briaded reel line at low wieghts ie 7-8lb b.s,wich is incredibly thin and very abrasive unlike say silkworm a braided hooklengh for carp,i dont use braid for anything other than pike i may consider using it for cats or in certain situations surface fishing for carp(always using a mono hook lenght).IMO stick to mono for carp n chub n barbel if anything it may cost you fish,as they are not hard mouthed like pike, you might get a few hook pulls(no stretch!even with a shockleader-more knots to worry about).i think any line wrappiing round a fish is not going to help it,ive had pike roll over braid when playing them to the net never cut one once...i use 38lb dyneema antres its as thick as say 12lb mono.not abrasive either very soft infact.

  4. i'll have a flik through m'yn when i get a mo,check ya spod question sir :D he definetly owns one im sure hes got "THAT" pic above his shop counter im sure im right i do get muddled up sometimes but im pretty much sure of it,never bean beaten that one i take my hat off to who ever catches that record one by design, infact i take my hat off to anyone who can land one that big and hold it for a photo!

  5. Rattus Norvegicus46:

try the okumas big pit reels mate.failing that try getting a decent big pit reel/large baitrunner second-hand,dont have to nothin to fancy if its only spod work but it should be strong and reliable, you need a good sized reel to haul the spod back.nothin worse than having fish in front of ya and no way of getting feed to em!look for well known names when buying second hand.

  6. i forgot to mention im a litho print mac op/re-toucher so i have alot of software n programes to play with,i put togather fhm, heat, elle etc before final print. :D i got xp at home so maybe i should get a usb camera.?

  7. Newt:

Well, they are sorta related. Same family.

Grass Carp - Cyprinidae - Ctenopharyngodon idella

European Chub - Cyprinidae - Leuciscus cephalus

Common Carp - Cyprinidae - Cyprinus carpio carpio

indeed they are newt,i still think theres a wee bit of chub in grass carp!maybe a common had a threesome with a chub and some fat mirror!but the mirror was firing blanks! :D

you'd still have to take the memory card to a photo shop to get your pictures printed.

oh-no all i have to do is take it to work plug it in to my mac open the pics covert the jpg's then using the company i work fors wicked scanning and printing software i can re-produce quite good ,clear large/small pics,i usaully enlarge on e originals if its a pb,i re-print them as i-proofs(if your fimaliar with them?

  10. illhave some soon elton, just gotta finish of the film,i put it in the camera in a hurry, didnt realise thers 40 bloody exposures on there!

got some nice barbel a tench and some carp.

  11. i use the old waymaster scales,i think there are several variants all look the same all black white dial, red needle(like most scales!)rectangluar shape weigh up to 30lbs but theres new ones out that go to 40lbs.i thought about getting them nash ones(up to 40lb i think) with a luminous back light, but in my eyes you cant beat the good old avon scales, difrent clours on the dial to make reading easier, no is it/isnt it a double!yes i must get my self a set a soon as i can always mean too, but my waymaster's have lived with me for nearly 10 years and they are checked regulary and are still very accurate.rueben heatons are the very good too.or have a look at some of keenets scales they look ok may need regular checkin tho.

  13. Ed Matysiak:

I was supposed to be doing an evening/night session on the river today for a big barbel or two. The clouds are dark and look like thunder so it doesnt look good. I still may go it depends on what my fishing companion thinks.
