  1. i have backleaded for barbel,

the main reason is to avoid "liners" from barbel as they feed, hovering over the rig,you dont want to strike at a liner and spook em or posssibly and a lot worse-foulhook one!

i use normal style leger wieghts trapped with two float stops either side about 3feet back from my main lead,if teh flow is really heavy a 1oz in-line lead is a better option.

when i cast out,i very slowly tighten up to teh backlead NOT the main lead, you have to feel it tighten then slacken off slightly leaving a slight bow in the line, line doesnt need to be tight,as teh lead will do its job pricking the barbel or quite simply you will get a six foot twitch :clap2:

  2. Sounds good to me.

Was fishing the stretch by the bus garages on Friday evening but it has suddenly got really weedy over the last week. Not a single take unfortunately. :-( First time I've been there and blanked for a long time.

Yes, I'm still up for meeting up and I am suitably reassured by your declarations of sexuality. To me a butt plug is something that keeps the end of my fishing rod from damage. ;-)

    cheers budgie!

bus garages? u mean the old cooks ferry?

i have some pukka lures for combating the weed! steve is gonna let us know soon in meantime get ya posts up so ya can PM

  3. At this point, I think it is only fair for me to point out that I am absolutely 100% straight and nothing, I repeat nothing, is going to change that.

Having said that, I think it could be a good idea for the future.

Three buddies, lure-fishing for pike from the same bank of the river Lea should produce some fascinating tangles, if nothing else :)

lol me too mate dont you worry about that men just dont do it for me.....gothic chicks or lily allen does however... :clap2::lol::yeah:

oh yes, hopefully we will get some hits(from pike!) tho, three of us, thats covering some water!

once you and uni have ya PMs up and running we wil arrange it.

btw-i have met up with a few forum regulars here and elsewhere(pike and predators forum) and have made some good mates along the way :) so you know i am a little mad,but not totally crazy!

  4. i havent given it a go around that way yet,tho another new memeber on the forum(ultimex?bugger cant spell or remeber his alias!) has said they are present, mainly jacks i gather, but they are the bread and butter fish and good sport,i would'nt hope for big numbers of them but i could be wrong,if you cant walk to far, i wouldnt really recommend static fishing along the tottenham lenght, too much aggro but enfield aint to bad.i my self grew up around them areas,i would fish it, but i would leapfrog along it with the minimum of tackle, when its nice and cold out and no oen else is about!

do you fish lures at all?

  5. Actually, you won't have a PM as I keep getting this message when I try to PM you -

"You are not allowed to use the messenger feature on this board"

I'm guessing it's because I'm new - either that or because my computer hates me (as usual).

In essence my Pm was just going to say that yes, I'd be up for spending a couple of hours fishing with you if you like.

no worries mate,ok get ya posts up asap!

be up for that then soon couple of weeks maybe less?

  6. oh yes i make all my own traces, :clap2:

i use and love to bits-fox carboflex(coated wire)- amazing stuff i cant fault it super reliable and strong plus it lasts longer than your average seven strand trace, doesnt get kinked very easily.i can make my traces to my exact sepcifcations and to go with whatever method i am using-live traces, paternoster traces etc

i do twist seven strand traces, and crimp carboflex traces, and in defence of shop bought traces,my 20+ pb was caught on a fox shop trace

  7. Mainly Jacks but there are a few big ones in there. Also some nice carp - very difficult to catch though. Biggest problem is a certain part of the community seem to regard taking the pike and the carp to their kitchens as perfectly acceptable.

thats good to hear they are there,i honestly thought they were pretty much non-existent!

i live not far from lea bridge road, teh carp are catchable below t-ham lock done fish to 40+ last year,

but its not teh nicest place to fish, tell ya what tho could meet up chuck some lures about if ya like, may be able to put you onto some bettter venues not that far away.

up to you mate PM us if ya like PS do you know the tidal lea?

  8. hi unimexol.

i am a lea angler too,i havent fished much round the navi in london for years,

altho lately i have been thinking about it,theres some monster carp to had in there, never really piked it,you caught pike from the navi around tottenham?

  9. i would get sneaky,sunken paternoster rigs,

hes obviously a knob, thats pretty much all theere is too it.

i would have picked up my lure rod selected a nice big jerkbait and slung it straight at him! (joking)

  10. the pic of my one is from the lea,it was a pretty big bugger,i too rarely see small ones,i have had mates who say they have caught pike that have thrown them up but i have yet to see it,and i catch quite a few pike.

i think teh chub are more than capable of having a g at them as is a decent sized perch, even carp
