  1. i would only use them as bait,on placs already effected by them.

    bit pointless otherwise......

yes i have tried crayfish style lures, not much but a mate caught a couple of pike on a rubber jig style cray, also had lots of follows from perch, lure possibly too big for em tehy was only smalll perch.

  2. i have actaully caught a crayfish on a lure-a jig

i am a lea regular too i have had them bother me in oneweirpool wich at its deepest is over 18ft and has a strong flow, last year i didnt get to bothered by them, even using deadbaits.

personally i know a freind who has harvested some and he says they taste ok!

  3. Hi

I have only ever fished in the sea but living in london dont get much opportunity to do so, so i would like to try fishing in a canal not far from where i live, can anybody advise me on what sort of gear i will need.

where abouts in london? if i know the area i might well be able to help

  4. hey flibb,

i use a collapsoble abu garcia landing net, wich has a 30 inch arm span, and teh handle extends to around 6-7 feet also have a clip so you can clip it to ya rucksack.

failing that the good old "wilson" net the round style with green tubing around the rim,i used to attach my one again to the back of my rucksack.

  5. So how did everyone get on?

I originally set out to stalk carp with a fly rod on a local lake but found that was full to the brim with Chavs stomping around desperate to electrocute themselves on the overhead powerlines at one end of the lake.

So i went to the river instead I found some Thames barbel but didn't really have the right kit so managed to blank but I'll be back maybe tonight if i can get out!

    Rich

went out to stalk too, found some but they were not intrested at all :schmoll:

bugger knew i should have taken me lures instead,i might get up at dawn tommorrow go and lure fish the canal local to me,cant make my mind up,their are some very big carp in the canal, possible to stalk there too, argh! i cant decide

  6. nice boris and chevins and even a snotty!

my first was a 6lber and my biggest is a 10.09 all my babrel have been caught in london :) not the thames or lea either or wandle!

  7. like argyll said theres no easy route, have to put the time in and suffer the jacks(small but good fun!?).

dont go down the live/dead bait route in summer stick to lures wait for the winter for baits, plus the weed will have died back by then.

  8. either perch...or carp!

i watched a very very big mirror(25-30+) fry feeding on a river the weekend,it was chraging through a lily pad, into shallows around a foot or two deep, back out of teh water, swirling at the tiny fry,i did notice a few chub around 2-3inches that were in teh same area but i didnt see the carp actaully take them but he was definetly having a munch on the "pin" fry.

very intresting to watch, never seen carp behave that predatory before.
