  1. It's not often I look in this bit but this topic did catch my eye, as I've been thinking the same thing.

It's not just AN either, I look at other forums and it's a very similar story. Funnily enough the topics that really catch fire are always the ones about how the forum is going downhill, never about fishing!

I did used to try to help out new members if they'd asked a question but after a while got the feeling that it was rarely the answer they wanted to hear, and so I started to put less effort into it. I don't know if others felt the same. Also I don't like to answer those questions with guesses so if I don't know I won't try - in the past there were always enough active members with enough experience to fill the gaps but that isn't really the case any more. Most of us now do broadly similar things.

Even the fish ins are attended by the same small group of people, which is nice in a way as we are all friends by now but I would prefer it if new people came along too. To be honest I could have organised the zander fish in by phone...!

It would be good if other fish ins were organised too, on a recent topic quite a few people expressed interest in attending various fish ins but no-one then actually organised any.

Similarly on the forum, virtually no-one posts reports of their trips any more, which is a great shame. In my opinion the easiest and best way to keep interest up is to tell everyone about their session with some photos. As well as being nice to read, it nearly always generates some discussion points. I think the bottom line is, we all get out what we're prepared to put in.

I posted a fishing report, and like many, non get looked at, AN is a waste of effort.....

  2. Halibut from the Landing, 18lb'r. Phil reckons this is a first from the landing ? Dunno ?
This straightened out a fine wire size 2 hook  was lucky as his freind had clambered down rocks to the side and managed to gill it after it had
    come off the hook !

He only went and caught another further up the road at 30 lb again from the shore.
Not bad as he had never shore fished before. Trying to get photo sent.

  3. Up at 0200 Hrs Sat morn' so no rush, relaxing drive to Gatwick.
Drove up to the barrier at south long stay car park, and was greeted with "Welcome N4lly" and the
    barrier raised, which was nice.

Check in using the electric booth thingy, enter 6 digit code and out spilled boarding passes and luggage labels,
    which was nice.

Flight to Oslo was 30 mins late, Norweign do not transfer luggage so had to collect
and run through very hot airport with 9' rod bag and all ! Not so nice.

Luggage booking clerk announced that the gate for Trondheim was closed you have missed it.

Secret weapon deployed. Lieutenant colonel John of the great British Army.
5 mins later Baggage booked in and gate re-opened. Which was nice.

Phil and Julian very busy with German/Swedish arrivals, so we had to get the train.
Dread filled me again, however, there is a new platform approx 30 mtrs from Arrivals at Trondheim.

Cost to Rora was KR 139.-- which was nice.

Driver and guard helped load Rod tubes etc into a luggage area at the front of the train, which was nice.
The journey on the train was like a Portillo or Micheal Palin TV Program. Most excellent, highly recommend.

Arrived at digs approx 1500 Hrs, was expecting rough and rustic, nope, top draw, apartment 4 had 4 x double rooms. Did not have to share with snoring old boys, large twin to my self.
Honesty, perfect, more than adequate, most excellent digs.

First thing broke out were the boat rods. Straight out onto the boats and into the inviting Fjord.
Back at 00:00 hrs, bed at 01:30. Woke the next morning with a blue sky and sun shine streaming through the window.
Pickup watch off the window sill to read 09:00 Hrs.
Shower / Dress / Coffee on Balcony / back in to tie rigs for the day. The guys are still snoring away, what
is up with them ? Watch now on wrist, have look and it's 05:00, i got up at 03:00, read the watch upside down. DOH! Never mind 24DC and a glass like Fjord, which was nice.

Some pictures follow.....Oh and Haddock broke my spinning rod, which was nice LOL

  4. Anyways, no ferry's in or out of Calais.

The calais staff shuffled over to the tunnel and burnt tyres on the track's.

the M20 stack is now at phase 3, which means the north board motorway is being used as a car park.

The Wimbledon set pee'd off at 35 DC.

Imagine being parked on concrete, no water, no loo, no future.

The Irish and Uk haulier they are staying in the UK. The European haulier are telling me they are staying off the Island.

    Deep joy !

  5. Oh and its Cherbourg not the Channel Isle's.

Should have been out there this week, is why i booked this week off. That Skipper cancelled, is why i booked the trip today.

A whole week off and no fishing. B*****KS

  6. Was looking forward to today, so much so i bound out my pit at 0200 Hrs this morning.

Checked Txt and email just in case any bad news. Nope nothing.

So off i was to Sussex to get on a boat for a days breaming.
Armed with two packs of Party Squid and plenty of rag.

Forcast of warmest day of the year, so was not bothered by the downpours on the way down.

Parked on the quay next to the boat, and waited and waited, 0730 hrs and we should have been through the lock and out.

Tried to call the skipper, was just answer machine.

Clearly no one was turning up. So came back home.

Got 3 message's from skipper saying he text me last night. But he had used an number i have not had for more than a year (Works mobile) Doh !

What a waste of a perfect day off work :(

At least my party Squid was still frozen when got back (new electric cool box)
