I could be up for that. Is it best to book?

I'm busy for the next two weekends, but an evening should be possible. If Sunday fishing is possible at the venue, Sunday afternoon/evening shold be OK this week.

Back from holiday now. We didn't get as many chances to go fishing as I would've liked, but did get a couple of 4 hour sessions at the fishery. Wife likes her Lureflash Viper and managed to hook a fish and land one I hooked. She is keen to do more.

That'll be great, I'll keep a watch out.
Cheers

Hi Jim,
I would definately be interested. I've not fly fished from a boat before, only bank and river. It would be great to try. I met peterthefisherman on a sea fishing trip to Scrabster at the beginning of the year.
As I said earlier in the thread I'm on holiday at Loch Morlich next week, but I'm also on holiday the following week, but just at home.
Cheers,
Mike

Do they make float tubes in XXL? A float tube would be good on Loch Morlich, and save the expensive boat hire there.
Loch Lochindorb looks good, I think a visit there is a definate possibility. The Bothy Cottage looks like it might be good to book for a week sometime.

So far she likes it Just a few casts in the back garden though.
-
So do I, the reviewers in Trout and Salmon and Trout Fisherman seemed to like it. It's bound to be better than the rubbish old Shakespeare rod I have. So at least I'll have an excuse if she catches and I don't

Lureflash viper ordered, fingers crossed it arrives before Saturday... I'll try the local shops for a reel and lines.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Sportsman,
We are in Limekilns, Fife and the casting lesson was at Loch Fitty. We are on holiday next week at Loch Morlich and the idea was to start her out on the Rothiemurchus fishery (catch almost guaranteed) and then go to Avie Lochan and possibly also try for wild brownies on Loch Morlich (I got a couple of nice brownies there last year and a week permit is next to nothing).
What about a Cortland GR4 at £70.
or
Airflo MT series again £70.

Yesterday my wife had a casting lesson and is now keen to go further. Her instructor recommended a 9'6" light weight rod with a through action.
Firstly I'd like to know if anyone disagrees with that as a choice for ladies. We'll be mainly bank fishing on Scottish Lochs and fisheries.
The Ron Thompson Speed
Force Outfit from Mike's Tackle Shop in Portobello seems a good deal on paper. Rod, reel with spare spool, floating and intermediate lines for £55. Has anyone tried this rod and if so what is your opinion.
Does anyone know of a web site with more information on the Ron Thompson range, including weights, description of action etc. Most just say it's olive green and extremely light.
Many thanks

I'd like to come down for some of the week and try swff for the first time, if possible. Is there somewhere to pitch a tent?

I'd be up for this too.

Looks like I'll have to give this one a miss. All three dates clash
Bob on Stronsay, I'll get you weights to Shaun or Norrie.
Is the summer trip still a possibility??
-
Bob, If I can't make it because of the dates, I'll get your weights to Norrie. Fingers crossed I'll be there.Bob on Stronsay:
Mike if you make it can you bring my leads up. If I don't make it down I am sure Paula will forward them to the Orkney mainland via the security officer on the ferry (Hello Ann) who I can pick them up from.

Depending on teh dates I'd be interested too. Specially as another club boat trip was cancelled And it was only 12mph forecast and turned out to be flat calm...

Which bit is woosh Norrie, starting from the beginning...Norrie:
Its definately a case of ....Whoosh....for me....
And Tigs how come you couldn't follow the instructions. Was it because the sentences do not include latin, are too short (refer to 2.0.3.16.72.1), with not enough commas, written in plain(ish) English, and not containing tort terminology.

You have email....SandTiger:
Screenshots? Pray, do tell mike...
Anyone else?
-
Davy and Norrie you've got PM. I've been doing screenshots

Bob,Bob on Stronsay:
Paula if my leads turn up hang onto them for me for the next trip.
Bob
Are your leads in a white tupperware box? If so I've got them. I'll just need to keep them safe 'till 'The Return'. Norrie left masses of weights at Paula's, so hopefully she'll let you have some if you get back to the mainland.
We also managed to come away with one of Sandtigers rods. But Norrie's going to put that on Ebay later
Thanks Paula for organising a great weekend! Cod for tea tonight

Good Morning All!
Only 4 hours of work to go then I'll be getting the car packed to head to Norrie's.
One thought... Snatcher, are you lures mainly for boat fishing, or could they work from the shore too? If so I might have pack another rod...

I've got the garlic and silver cross packedKennyC:
Don't worry Mike the reason Shauns gone 'Goth' is so that when in black he is in 'stealth mode' if he sleepwalks during the night
