from the coaching i have been getting for casting initially have been recomended to have reel in up position place but in your arm pit and wher your hand holds the rod at almost max extension is where the reel should sit if you want expert advice try neil mckellow's site http://neilsforum.marsh-tackle.co.uk/forum/

have to agree there sportsman
henry could set a better example, as could i to my kids. so have asked for floaties for them and a manual gas life jacket for me from the man with the white beard and will endeavour to have it on prior to whenever fishing from rocky marks or boating
we i hope have all got used to seat belts and with a slight change in our practice we can easily don a lifejacket first

tack4 and little tack 4 version of a crane fly(daddy long legs) fly tied during last session with snatcher for this year
-
well his season at drummore has come to a close
all the tacks will miss uncle snatcher
on his last two visits we have been treated to some lure tying lessons
kyle an me came up with this beauty
crane fly copy by accident but looks the buisiness in our humble opinion
managed a few others
an orange dog nobbler
and a red tail ???????
may have to give some thought to wetting a fly in fishery next year
i have never seen the kids so quiet and engrossed for a long time
kyle tying a snatcher lure
caitlin deep in concentration

Wasn't Henry Gilbey raised by his grandmother in Scotchland? That's the impression I got from his Pike on the fly session with Nick Hart (His cousin I believe, but then again aren't they all cousins down that way?)
Correct in a way MJB caught his first fish not far from Castle Douglas between Stranraer and Dumfries with his grandmother
(His cousin I believe, but then again aren't they all cousins down that way?) what are you implying mate
i for one find his approach refreshing and as Davy says he's getting a programe on the box for us to watch and i for one will be watching
NICE ONE 'ENRY and thank god well see you with your hair cut

went to snatcher's van this pm
the tack4's were going to get a lure tying lesson
Caitlin patiently watched as Snatcher demonstrated the art and my eyes were glued to every turn of the master's wrist and every tuck here and cut there
Caitlin was first to embark on a lure
the noise levels assosciated with my two kids was totally absent as caitlin concentrated and kyle was having a go at suduko for the first time
she was nearing the end of her lure and oblivious to the camera
when she was done she was so proud
My go under the watchful eye of the master went ok
Kyle swapped roles with Caitlin and began his instruction
he started slowly and with gentle hints and helping hands continued
again silence reigned
nearing completion
and finally..........................
Caitlin's....................................................................Dad's............................................................Kyle's
we cant wait to catch a nice pollack on them so come on weather give us a break
-
had heard he'd had tope close in but didn't have bigger gear with us
went out again this pm slightly different mark
result
tack4 (dad) 1 wrasse and 1 coallie
kyle 2 coallie
caitlin bites but no hook ups except weed
but we had a go at lure tying see
-

http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.p...ut+fished+again

Dad 2 tiddlers

mr clause is hopefully bringing floaties for litlletack4 and misstack4
would never consider them fishing alone or in such coditions
as said our thoughts are with the parents such a tragic loss.

well plan A was off......
me, snatcher, and young snatcher(Chris) were due out with ian burrett this morning but we cancelled due to forcasted weather and winds................
they were right and it would have been a drenching and very lumpy.
PLAN B
got up sharp and was digging bait by 07:10 rag and lug hmmmmmmm!
met up with the snatcher squad pm went to the flat rock area via ian burrett's thanks for the tea christine.....
SNATCHER YOU MUST LEARN TO WIPE YOUR FEET MATE
the fishing commenced at approx 1.45pm just on HW weather had become clamer and clear skys
set my own rod first and cast out a floated rag for any pollack
snatcher let leash with his beachcaster and his 535 that i had bomb proofed for him (NICE CHUCKIN' MATE AND NOT A NEST IN SIGHT)
Young snatcher was spinning.......
set up the little tacks with light gear , spinning rods two hook traces and small weights combo of rag and lug
guess what..........................................?
yup
"DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD" screamed Caitlin(misstack4) " I'm in"
result her first wrasse
when is it going to be me to catch first??????????
after unhooking it Caitlin gave it the Rex Hunt treatment and was sent back to fight again
a short lull......
"DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD" Kyle chips in "fish on"
result wrasse no 2 of the day
again back to fight again
meanwhile i had snagged retreived with bent hook and no bait left
snatcher the odd knock but no takes
young snatcher pleny snags some lost gear and a few tabs smoked
"DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD" misstack4 has such a delicate voice "Fish On"
"this is getting serious" says snatcher "were all getting out fished by the kids"
this rubbed salt into some open wounds
Caitlin with 2 Wrasse the larger being just on the 1lb mark
I changed tactics again and landed a small wrasse my self but the photo was duff and kyle refused to get my face in shot.......
no more fish were caught, some more end tackle lost by the "Experienced Fishermen" until we called it a day
the fishing had finished time for one more photo
......................... caitlin.......................chris......................kyle...................
.and snatcher
Aim was to head back to Snatchers caravan and tie some lures but on arrival there had been a power cut
hastily made up some of my new headlights left them at 5.20pm with two candles, two torches, two fishing headlights and a fridge with warming beer
got a text to say power was back but no metion if any beer left
-

cant stand up too quick barry my head spins if i do
great work nick felt things were giong to happen after first meeting with baryy ,ian, davy and myself in Girvan.
to all involved well done and keep up the good work
SOS is going from strenght to strength but it take effort and time
it may not happen as quick as some would like but the political machine has its own slow speed that frustrates those wishing immediate action
we are moving in the right direction and our voice will be heard
-
do we bombard him weekly until then with requests for representation then and keep on at our MSP's in the same light
have had +ve responses from my local MSP an MP on recreational representation and conservation issues
-
game for that ferret saves using up eltons bandwidth too much
could the rules be clarrrified ie the photo must been taken during November this year and not a fav pulled out of cyberspace?
