  1. How would you rig up live prawn to fish around a pier? And if you had live sandeels what rig would you use to fish near rocks etc? Any help would be great as looking to fish a spot of eastbourne marina with live bait and the pier when weather improves?
  2. Yeh have looked at the floating beads will lift a worm off the sea bed but not a squid bait. Looks tho that beads are the only real possibility.
  3. I fished 3 hours of the ebb at Eastbourne beach yesterday and didnt get one bite...from a fish that is. Bloody crabs stole my bait within 10 mins of it hitting the sea floor so how do the fish stand a chance?! Can anyone give me some idea's on lifting the baits up off the sea bed and away from the clutches of these crafty crustaceans! i was thinking of using cork to keep the bait away from the sea bed or short traces way up from the lead tho not sure on bait presentation. Though i always like to have a bait hard on the bottom but cannot see this as being a possibility with so many crabs around, though if anyone has any idea's would be great.
  4. Anyone fish the Ouse near Barcombe mills? Is the barbel fishing any good round here at all as will be moving to Eastbourne so may check the club and day ticket stretches near by.
  5. I am moving up to Eastbourne in july and am really eager to get amongst the bass and smoothies that are around this time of year. Anyone living in Eastbourne able to help, have searched out some pretty good sites and they have given me an idea on what marks to fish, but wondered if an actual Eastbourne local could give me some info on the pier and surrounding area. Like can you fish at night and what places are the best etc also is there some good close range fishing on the beach to be had.
  6. Anyone fish for carp in Bath around the centre? Whats the species on the stratches actually in bath? Any help would be great.
  7. Can anyone help point me to some marks in either- Portishead/clevedon/weston super mare/minehead. Need to find marks that are near train stations etc as do not drive and really want to find some marks that will fish well in winter. Any help and advice as i know it can be quite danferous to fih the channel would be great.
  8. Looking for some help and advice fishing the rivers around bristol. Moved to bristol a year ago and know of some free fishing around keynsham and some day ticket fishing in Chippenham. I dont drive so these 2 spots are easy for me to access as near train stations Can anyone help me,and point me to likely spots, looking for a chance os some chub and good roach this winter plus the odd barbel
  9. Went to a lake in the south west called creedy, and had one great session. Used plum additive which got the fish chomping and decided to use some diffrent sized mixers that worked on even the most crankiest of fish. This place has caused me many a blank but with a more positive, confident attitude i bagged my 1st double from the harder lake of the two (shame it wasnt a 20!) and that opened the flood gates with 3 more doubles from th top lake!! What a change of attitude can make, fantastic.
  10. Now ive been playing with fishmeals for a long time,as a lot of people. You can but ground fishmeal in bulk these days, but is there anyone who still uses fish that they ground up themselves? 2 years ago i played with a mix of tuna, anchovy paste, blended sweetcorn amongst other stuff and had some really good results. As with any of my crazy scientist experiments i did not write down recipe and have never had same results,so ave up. Does anyone still make and roll there own? its a dying art
  11. Newt what concerns me is whats been brought up that it works on a emergency frequency. But they are so much cheaper over there it makes sense to buy, does anyone know why they are banned. I need something with an edge as the lake i will be fishing is heavily pressurised, might give them a go. Any ideas on rig choice for silt?
  12. N4lly i fished Them piers you seen on that link, and they were awesome. Loads of fish nothing big tho but loads of spanish mackerel on jigs. The pier above the one in the picture is a lovely wooden pier and we fished there but were shown how to do it by the dolphins!! Have decided to fly to Miami s red tide along gulf coast side so fishing been affected badly
  13. Newt just looked at website and from what i can see its still red tided out in the area. Whats the fishing like around Miami? And is there any places you would suggest to fish on the southeast coast round Miami as it seems its not been hit by red tide.
  14. Cheers for advice,Newt will give that link a look.Pelyma getting to the keys is a no no,this is supposed to be hols for me and my girlfriend.Gunna sneak a couple of days fishing and the odd early morning before she wakes!!!!!
  15. Is newt still on the site i got some grat advice from newt in june and wondered if he still logged on.
  16. Anyone used blood worms in there bait,so many company promoting baits or feeds with bloodworms in them figured i may be missing something?! The girlfriend has finally given me permission to order my smart cast and am soo excited. Spoken of before but is it worth getting one from america am out there in october and was thinking of getting one cheap over there. Any views welcome
  17. Honeymoon island? is it near st petes beach n4lly? The pier at clearwater i thought i would give a go hoping to hook into some reds. Is it too late for snooks along the beaches now as i know they spawned in summer? Lucky true, lets hope the missus doesn't read this thread, she thinks its a beach holiday for diffrent reasons to mine!!! [ 23. August 2005, 10:10 PM: Message edited by: christian kimber ]
  18. I'm heading back to Florida for a week at the end of October. When i went out in june got some gret advice from Blinddog and others, but red tide destroyed the fishing. Well i'm gunna give it another go!!! Anyone fished near Tampa staying at st petes beach. Any info or tips would be geat.
  19. Why can't you use the american smart casts over here?! the frequency is diffrent but whats wrong with that?!!! They have a rod mounted one like newt says has range of 150ft why the bloody hell don't we!!
  20. Cheers for info i'm seriously considering buying one as i'm planning to do more research when fishing carp and sea, before attempting to fish as a bit fed up with spending money and time with little results. My own fault as i know i need to discover more about the waters i fish and hopefullythe smart cast will cut down on time needed. Cheers again
  21. I will be buying one in a month when i have enough money as i think that with miles of shore line in plymouth it will help me pinpoint spots that are close in and attract fish. I struggle with wsea fishing as i can't realistically use a marker float and low tide only shows certain features,so i don't know what is really down there. It would be good to map a extensive area of shoreline, what do people think?
  22. So your saying the range is higher than stated newt? Most of my carp fishing is close in to mid range so i thought it might help. What i want is something i can use in coarse and sea fishing to increase my knowledge of whats down there as my marker float work leaves a lot to be desired! Could anyone give me advice on using and reading them please as i have never used a sounder before.
  23. Anyone used the smart cast feature fnders? Thinking of ways you could use it from the shore, any views. Also anyone know how you can increase there range as 100ft is not enough. Think about how a boat fishermen could not survive without his fish finder, and now apply that to shore fishermen.I think it very interesting.
  24. Would be interested to get some views on the smart cast fish finder. Has anyone used them and what do they think of them. I know they have a limited range has anyone thought of trying to increase the range. I was thinking of purchasing one to make feature finding easy and quick, which i feel would give me a edge when fishing large or new lakes, what do people think. Finally someone told me they dont work in under 5 foot of water,is this true.
