Arrived at wall on spur of the moment , just me fishing , escaping for a couple of hours.
Set up just 1 beachcaster , bites were coming in as soon as bait went into water just 10 mins into session a nice trout.
Things slowed down a bit i caught a flounder 20 mins later followed by another . As tide slowed a started to lark around with my spinning rod only used it once before as i am pretty crap at it.
Well my spinning rod went down gave me a shock i reeled in yet another trout,

i fish 2 hooks normal flapper rig or what ever you call them in your area , size 1 hooks baited with herring , mackerel strips, on thin tip beachcasters
the tidal run is firece here so if you get a good one great fight.
i am not a fish eater either , but my wife and kids are.
so i do keep the odd 1 or 2.
i keep records and hand them in to the local place for records on how many caught.
but those are crackers of fish you caught TA
hope to see more
-
ta pity about your post great fish
i love catching them
we catch them down here more out of season though.
i release 90% of them the ones i usually keep are the ones who will not make it .

Unless of course you have trailer with 'Alko sealed for life' hubs - then you have nowhere to put the grease!
The life expectancy of such hubs (for those who frequently launch into the salty stuff) is not good. They are great on caravans, but I would always recommend the older style hubs with replacable bearings (and grease) that you can do maintenance on.
Just my opinion and experience.
Bill
quite agree with the older style much easier as you can srtip them down , i always greased the trailer hub not that much but a thin layer so not much grease
every couple of trips with my boat.
my caravan just check it if it needs it .

Loch Etive - MVCregallan
Weather: Over cast , lightish wind getting cold near end of session
Bait: mackie , squid , kipper , herring , sprat , sardine
Fish Caught : whiting , thornback ray , spurdog , pouting , lsd , poor cod , cod
This trip putting together was a nightmare , it was a work trip out with only 3 guests , but it ended up with 3 short and only myself and Andy from work .
Thank you for Dave , Mike and Mac who filled 3 places and Neilg who had to pullout last min but still paid , a free trip in march for ye bud .
We all arrived roughly the same time , setting up gear while we saw Colin steam up the Loch .
Everyone aboard we headed right down towards the glen etive area of the loch , Al "squid ink" hooked into a thornie and a whiting , not long after andy hooked into a spur , wee brian hooked into a spur then a whiting , while the rest of us stood about .
Wee brian was getting loads of bites reeling up he bitten off once , reeled up again same thing , 7 times he was bitten off . I managed to get a spur followed by a whiting .
I had a good bite reeled into it a fine 8lb spur on a 1/0 hook ,
while unhooking BBrian brung in a spur shouting a net a net ..... i am sure he was thinking about huluo from the kloset bar .......lol...lol.
We moved to another mark , wee brian caught a pouting , i managed to catch a few LSD as did a few of the others on the boat , tiny spurs kept coming aboard .
We headed to another mark where same as last whiting , tiny spurs , Al caught a poor cod with it's eyes blown out , Mac caught a cod and while unhooking it fell right back in a healthy 3-4 lber ...
So a good day out with some cracking craic , 7 species in total
Biggest spur - sultzer - beers
Biggest Thornie - Al - choco bars
Most Species 25 in total" - Al - rigs
Brian shouted Huluo are you one of these , crying o Huluo whereart now :hypocrite
and by god i was starving
