  1. OK.

Can you tell me what drives you have on your PC?

They should be listed under "My Computer".

You may have a recovery partition that will allow you to repair the current OS, rather than reinstalling. That way you won't lose your data files. Though I'd recommend that you back them up to CD/DVD anyway.

I have to say that this is a weird problem; I've only seen it once. Are all the CD/DVD/floppy drives empty? Can you RIGHT click "My Compter">Properties>Hardware>Device Manager? Any question marks/exclamation marks?

    Cheers

    Ian.

  2. Aye, a bit of light reading for me there.

As for the HT log, can you email it to me?

Regards the System Restore, which restore point did you you use? Last night or last week?

Do you have an XP CD? And is it Home or Pro?

Are you deliberately running the Yahoo Toolbar?

    Back in an hour.

    Cheers

    Ian.

  3. Oh good. A nice easy one.

First off, are you sure that you are starting in normal mode, and not safe mode?

Second, did you install anything yesterday program wise?

Third, have you the specifications of your system, including age and hard disc(s) manufacturer?

    Cheers

    Ian.

Can you send me a couple of the files? The codec that you've used is "Lossless", and therefore more processor intensive; in my opinion you would have been better encoding to MP3. Others may have a different slant. And Windows Media Player would not be my first choice for ripping and/or playing. Again, others may differ.

    Address to send: ianATrobertianrae.co.uk

    Obviously, replace AT with @.

    Cheers

    Ian.

  5. Hi

    First, try this:

Go to Start>Run. Type "Regsvr32 /u iTunesMiniPlayer.dll" (without the quotes) and press OK. (Note the space between regsvr32 and the /).

You should see a message if the command was successful. If it was, try installing iTunes again.

    If not, try this.

Download and run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;290301

Select iTunes, if present, in the dialog box that appears when you run it.

As always, make sure that you have valid Restore Points to fall back on.

    Cheers

    Ian.

  6. Yes, one of the steps I was going to advise you to try was editing the registry, and changing the permissions on certain registry components. However, if you are not sure what you're doing, that could create more problems than it solves.

The alternative is to try to install Quicktime Lite (formerly called Quicktime Alternative): http://www.codecguide.com/about_qt.htm

First, though, you'll have to eradicate all traces of Quicktime and Itunes from your system: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698

    'Tis up to you.

    Cheers

If this is similar to the more recent Gameboy Advance SP, then,

"GBA SP can play all Gameboy Advance game paks from any country of the world.

Becouse SP has its own screen there is no such thing as NTSC or PAL Gameboy. GBASP is also compatible with older games made for the Game Boy Color and original Game Boy as well as import MultiCarts from Asia."

  8. It looks like you have retained the formatting from the website(s).

    You could either:

    Go back to the website(s), copy the text that you require, and then Edit>Paste Special>Unformatted Text in WordPad;

    or you could try:

In your existing document, go to the start of each line that you require single spacing, hold down the Control Key, and press 1.

    Cheers

  9. News to me Ian. I've had no problem with USB keys on my two Vista machines.

Though your acquaintance could be referring to the "Readyboost" feature of Vista, where a USB key is utilised as a kind of extension the the RAM. That feature is currently limited to using a maximum of 4Gb, but should not cause instability on devices with higher capacities; only 4Gb will be assigned for Readyboost.

    Cheers

    Ian.

  10. I've not found it (Vista Home Premium) too bad, running on two dual core laptops, an Intel Centrino and an AMD Athlon, each with 1Gb RAM.

    BUT, I've disabled:

    Aero

The UAC (User Account Control)

    The Sidebar

The Security Centre Notification and Icon

    Google Desktop (preinstalled)

    The Quick Launch Bar

    Cheers

    Ian.
