Anyone know much about tackle for boat fishing.

 

I'm a real novice but want to give it a go and I HATE borrowed tackle.

 

I'm thinking I'll need a 20/30lb rod with a matching reel but haven't really got a clue, I'm going to pop to the local tackle shop for some advice tomorrow but was hoping to have a bit of an idea so I don't look like a total muppet and get ripped off.
