  1. The boots look good but why the camouflage aren't they just going to get muddy anyway.

Why can't they just do a plain green pair for a tenner less and when they get clarty you will have your camouflage.

  2. Steve

Go one step further I have an old pair of crampons from my climbing days if you want to try them, also a couple of ice axes which could come in handy if this weekend is as cold as last.

  3. I would avoid cotton it holds moisture in the fabric; modern polyester fleeces wick moisture away rather than trap it.

If you can afford a breathable outer on your thermal suit, this stops the build up of moisture in the garment and you would feel more comfortable when you are moving around.

The non breathable garments are usually ok if you are keeping still and not moving around too much.

The ideal solution is to have a base layer consisting of thermal underwear, a mid layer of a fleece jacket and bottoms and a shell layer of a thermal wind and waterproof garment.

A hat should be worn as you loose around 30% of your body heat through your head, gloves neoprene or similar help but you could always keep your hands in your pockets.

And footwear should be the thermal type boots or winter grade walking boots.

  4. Then just use the trout pelet paste mentioned above feed pellet over the top and you will be OK.

Undoubtably there will be some local favoured recipe, but plain pellet paste has rarely let me down on my travels.

  5. Given my record I believe I must be, just last week no rain in Andalucia for three months, I arrive two days later; it's not just raining but snowing and coldest temperatures for 30 years.

I am going to get places to pay me to visit, for I am El Lluviator.

  6. I have regularly fished the Med using the much the same methods as Hector, I cant see why the PVA approach would not work.

Have you tried the bubble float and multi hook rig using floating bread? Works for just about everything and I have never had a fish double hooked or even foul hooked using this method.

Watch fishing in Harbours in Spain it is generally Prohibido, having said that you can generally fish on the seaward side and around the harbour mouth though not actually in the harbour itself.

  7. Craig,

    When are you going?

My favourite all year round paste is just plain trout pellet soaked in boiling water overnight then mashed and squeezed to make a paste, works unflavoured most of the time.
