  1. Good. I have nothing but contempt for BW and their staff.

In fact, I think that I'll make a point of keeping my eye out for BW's last operational day, and make damned sure that I plant myself in one of my favourite swims (from which they have previously tried to evict me on a number of occasions) just for old time's sake, and to irritate the fluoro wearing, river gypsy, jobsworths!

Roll on the cuts....... and keep them coming boys. I've been waiting years for this.

    ;-)

  2. Buy right, buy once, Barry.

My machine is coming up to it's third birthday soon. Quad core, 2x 1 TB hard discs, 4GB RAM, SLI 2x 512 graphics cards, Blueray DVD, 26" LCD, Bluetooth keyboard / mouse.

Got it from DELL direct, haggling hard over the period of a few days meant that it cost me less than the parts required to build it myself. The people I know who reccomend building your own machine are forever having problems.

Life's to short for that kind of hassle.

  3. Hiya Barry

A mate of mine reckons that a few real sea anglers should take charge of the angling PR effort.

He says that the only time angling would feature in a report / article, along with a dolly bird reporter / presenter, is when she's 'papped' leaving his pad in the early hours walking like a mountie.

A home cooked, line caught cod supper fit for a Queen, bottle of quality plonk, a man who can make it to the top of stairs without a Connery...and stay awake all night long without having a faulty Delkim taped to the headboard; that should get them quivering more than a socialite when a Range Rover full of premiership footballers pulls up outside the nightclub.

Pot noodles, a crate of Carlsberg, and a Super Cocoon bedchair in a tent just ain't going to cut it!

  4. It's official.

Those anglers attending the service of a dead fish are a national laughingstock....and once again, the normal folk out there who occasionally wield a rod, are also dragged into the joke!

Next time, leave the realtree egos at home, and tell the media sod off.

  5. What an absolute joke the Anglers Mail has become.

Save yourself the cover price, open it up the newsagents, shake your head in disbelief and throw

it back in the general direction from which it came.

    Total bull.

  6. Yeah...in my view also !

I'm am member of a club with 260+ waters including some of the best rivers and still waters in the country and the annual fee is £90.

But at £90 a year, do you still get the oportunity to cry when a fish dies? :D

  7. Rather worryingly, it seems Old Reg wasn't far off of the mark, and aspects of what he posted are pretty much supported by the guidance documentation directing the evolution of the MCZ selection process!

I'll post more tomorrow, but as far as I'm concerned this latest revelation has some serious ramifications when it comes to anglers spilling their guts in the hope that this will somehow 'protect valuable fishing areas'.

  8. Log books, bag limits and closed areas, Barry.

Great, the striped bass will soon follow, and Alderney will soon be famed for it's Guinness, wonderful craic, and as a second home to almost every angling photo journalist wishing to take a picture of a bass in a rockpool with a £30 lure hanging out of it's mouth!

I fear the truth will be that the hotels, B+B's and charter boats will all be booked up by the dregs of UK fisheries management, all vying to produce some wafer thin research to justify something similar back here.
