The 8 foot Samurai is rated 7/30 grams, bit heavier than i wanted. Veals had a Daiwa Super shinobi 3/10 grams 7 foot rod but i could not find any info on it and there were no photos. The Bass Pro rod has arrived today, lovely rod and well balanced with the shimano 1000.It is quite pokey though, more or less the same as my six shooter. If its no good for Chub and Perch i will use it with pike flies and sluggos.

Graeme B,
looked all over the net and found Summerlands last week. Ordered the rod and spoke to Nick? next day. The rods are discontinued and the seven footer at least is unavailable. Do not mind the rod being a bit stiff, its perch and chub i will be using it for too. It is not underrated like a lot of the yank rods is it?

Thanks for the thumbs up on the rod Newt, i was a bit worried when i saw how cheap it was on the Bass Pro website! Use Power Pro for all my lure fishing, waiting for some 20lb to arrive which is going on a Shimano Exage 1000RA, that arrived today and is very nice. Can't wait!!

Thanks for the help lads. Glasgow Angling sell a Ron Thompson Xcite, new version of the Steelhead. I have settled on one of the Bass Pro rods from Lure Mania 6 foot one piece 1/8 to 1/2 oz. Hope its ok or i will be shelling out for the Ron Thompson too!

Brian, i am not a member of any region. Went to see Howard Yendle years ago at senpac and more recently Mick Brown at Bowburn. I live in Hebburn, near the tyne tunnel.

Anyone recommend a rod for lures in the 3/15 gram range. Tried all over for a Daiwa samurai with no luck.

First Ultra Light Sessions
in Coarse Fishing
Posted
I have been out twice now to a local pond with my new kit (Bass Pro 6 foot one piece rod 1/8 to 1/2 oz, Shimano exage 1000RA and 20 lb Power pro)so i thought i would let you know how i got on. First session one small perch on a 2g Rublex Celta and a tangle off overloading the reel with braid. Cut a few feet off and next session had 6 small perch on the same lure. The rod is very nice but 2g is a bit light for casting any distance, just could not get a take on bigger lures! Really enjoyed the fishing, a perch on a lure is worth ten on the float! Anyone got any tips as i am hooked now!!
