  1. I fished in the same match davy and had a similar bag i fished right next to the guy that was 2nd and all his fish including a 7lb huss n a 7lb thornie came on rag tipped mackeral on a three hooks flapping rig with 25lb snoods and size 2 kamsans!!

Are you from round Kirkcudbright way Chris? Myself and my mate Shaun come up every summern, especially for Davy littles flattie match on the Saturday, then the match on the Sunday - its a great weekend! :D

  2. I fish in doggie heaven (SW Scotland) during the summer, and half a small or medium sandeel whipped onto a size 1 or 2 Kamasan, using 3 hooks is what commonly used up there.

Last match I fished up there last summer was won with 90lb of fish :o I had over 40lb and came nowhere

  3. tugmistress, roker pier is the northerly pier on the mouth of the wear, from the end you can see south shields pier which is even longer than roker pier.

glad to read the report, I'm itching to wet a line now.

You must be able to see round corners Phil  The furthest point you can see north of Roker Pier is Whitburn (Used to watch the snow storms coming from that way when codling fishing ;) )

  4. I'm heading up this Sunday with a couple of lads who've never fished for Pollack before. I've been to Port Logan before and had a great time to the south of the bay, but the access wasn't for the squeamish has anyone any other places over there which they recommend

Don't be daft. Better to eat a deep hooked fish than throw it back.
I'm not daft. If you read what I said, I said not to fish for them for the sole purpose of finding out what they taste like, if you keep a deep hooked fish, fair enough.
  6. To me, you shouldn't even THINK about eating them. There are enough edible fish about without resorting to killing one of the best fighters in our waters just to find out 'what they taste like'!!!
