I fish in doggie heaven (SW Scotland) during the summer, and half a small or medium sandeel whipped onto a size 1 or 2 Kamasan, using 3 hooks is what commonly used up there.
Last match I fished up there last summer was won with 90lb of fish I had over 40lb and came nowhere

tugmistress, roker pier is the northerly pier on the mouth of the wear, from the end you can see south shields pier which is even longer than roker pier.
glad to read the report, I'm itching to wet a line now.
You must be able to see round corners Phil The furthest point you can see north of Roker Pier is Whitburn (Used to watch the snow storms coming from that way when codling fishing )

I'm heading up this Sunday with a couple of lads who've never fished for Pollack before. I've been to Port Logan before and had a great time to the south of the bay, but the access wasn't for the squeamish has anyone any other places over there which they recommend

Great pics of Mako steaks...NOT.
Sickened me.

I've got 20lb on my 525 for doggie bashing and mixed ground. For the heavier stuff, I use my Slosh 30

Cheers Shaun. Been once before, but we had to leave the pier as it was still under repair.

Unlucky Shaun. Did you get much at LA?

Penn 525 mag for me anytime. Had it for a year, and can't fault it. Saving for another now lol

Has anybody fished from there recently?

Bimini twist for me, like CT says, once you've tied it a few times, you could do it in your sleep.

I'm not daft. If you read what I said, I said not to fish for them for the sole purpose of finding out what they taste like, if you keep a deep hooked fish, fair enough. -
To me, you shouldn't even THINK about eating them. There are enough edible fish about without resorting to killing one of the best fighters in our waters just to find out 'what they taste like'!!!

I've got a Daiwa Powermesh X 2.25lb carp/pike rod and a Conoflex Assassin and would recommend them both.
