Yay! A replacement licence has finally arrived
-
Ho Hum........
Good morning,
Thank you for your email regarding your rod licence.
We experienced a technical problem with the printing of licences purchased on and around the date of your order. This problem has now been resolved and all licences have been sent.
Should it be the case that you have still not received your licence, please respond to this email quoting your full name, address, date of birth and licence number. We will update any address details that are incorrect on our system and re-issue the licence. For licences where we have all address details recorded correctly, we will reissue the licence and send it to you via recorded delivery.
While you are waiting for your licence to arrive, you can still fish, as long as you have you proof of purchase or your rod licence number, and a form of identification.
I trust that you will find this helpful. If you have any question, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
With kind regards,
Edward Harvey

** If anyone claims to have started earlier, remember you have to have fished on your own. Going with daddy at age 3 doesn't count.
Does hooking the goldfish out of the pond in the backyard whilst Dad was at work count?

STILL my licence hasn't arrived.
emailed them again a couple of days ago.
They have replied:
Thank you for your enquiry regarding the non receipt of your Rod Licence.
I can see that my colleague did order a replacement however there has been an issue with the Post Office system for licences ordered between 17th & 31st March 2014. This should have been sorted now and all licences should be sent out before the end of the week.
If you still have not received it by 23/04/2014 please let us know and we will either order another one for you or arrange for a hand written licence to be sent out. You can still fish if you take your receipt/confirmation with you along with another form of ID such as a drivers licence.
Waiting........

It doesn't matter if the actual licence appears, print the confirmation email and you're done. I doubt emailing them will have any effect...
Had a reply today
Thank you for your enquiry informing us that you have not received your rod licence purchased on 3rd March 2014.
I have ordered a replacement licence as you should have received your rod licence by now.

I've had the app for a while now.
You can point your phone into the sky and it will identify the aircraft you are watching.
Also you can sit in the cockpit and get a simulated view (I've been through some interesting landings!)
(Flightradar also has a twitter feed that contains more details of flights and problems with flights)Also worth looking at the AIS apps for ship movements (I can see where the trawlers are targeting sole down in the estuary).
The other app I like is one for identifying stars and planets and satellites moving overhead, just point the phone and it tells you what you are seeing (bit annoying that the constellations have American names though).

I applied for my licences on the 3rd March and still waiting. My partner done hers a few days ealier and had it delivered within days.
The service just seems all over the place from one year to the next, some years I get them fast and others it takes for ever.
Same here. Ordered mine online on 3rd, Post Office confirmation recieved, still no licence.
emailed them today.

No sign of winter here phone.
Wet and windy at times but quite mild really.Oh! And looking good for some real spring weather later in the week as high pressure moves in.

I think they are also being released into welsh rivers.
Maybe already established in Cornwall!

'Somerset' is derived from a land that could only be occupied in the Summer, and abandoned to the flooding in the Winter ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somerset )
With changling weather patterns It may once again have to be abandoned when the rains start.
-
We are aware that this Winter has been mild, wet and windy but the next week will make the Winter we've seen so far just "slightly damp" compared to the amount of rainfall we can expect over the next 7 days.

Tuesday evening out in the estuary fishing for flounders, getting soaked by torrential showers and horizontal rain.
(At least my flotation-suit had a sorely needed soaking. It doesn't smell quite so bad now!)Wednesday, and the company coming to install a new canopy porch called to say that they couldn't send their fitters out to work in the cold and gusting rain.
Today it's raining.
More rain and further flooding over the weekend apparently.
Advanced Weather Warning for Heavy Rain, Heavy Snow and Gales.
Valid From: 03:00 - Friday 31st January 2014
Valid Until: 23:00 - Friday 31st January 2014
Yet another deep area of low pressure will be sweeping in off the Atlantic on Friday bringing heavy rain and gale force winds to much of the UK.http://metcheck.com/UK/warnings.asp

Interviewed on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, she warned that February also looked set to be wet. "There is no real sign of a dry spell to change the weather pattern," she said.

Quite a bit of damage done locally:

I see on Facebook that Lyn Hurst had a lucky escape when her car was smashed by a tree that came down on her bonnet as she was driving

Leading edge of the hail and rain just hit our windows, driven by fierce and gusting wind.
(It was just a bit windy when I let one of the cats out 10 minutes ago!)

My grandsons (aged 3 & 4) use a Middy 4 metre carp whip (you can start them off on just a couple of sections).
Cheap as chips and great fun hooking rudd and pasties at the local carp puddle.
I wish they were around when I was a little one (I used to get so frustrated with the line tangling every few minutes or so).
I expect that they'll be using them with buzzers and a bung at the local trout pool soon, catching their own dinner
