When using mono, one thing to be avoided is creating heat/friction when tightening knots.

When you have finished tying a knot with a mechanical hook tier, the last few inches of line that lead up to the hook have been pulled through the knot when you tighten it.

If you tie a spade end knot by hand, the knot is tightened from the the opposite direction and any line pulled through the knot is then cut off.

    i s

dont tighten up the knot fully tight for that reason. Once ive pulled the tag end through i then use the tag end to get it all nice and tight too.

  2. Great little tool the matchman. I use it for 20's with a 1lb hook length. Can tie one in seconds.

I use the Matchman tyer and grip the line between my knees. I do most of mine on the bank, and haven't got the space for large gizmos

i do mines on the bank too, though i setup my rod and float first then tie on my hook length and the hook last using the rod tip to tension the line so i can use the matchman rather than the spool between my knees, i found the latter harder.

  3. I keep meaning to try those arduino and Pi's. few times ive been wanting to do some tinkering and thought, a Pi would be handy. latest one was a solar & battery powered cctv motion camera feeding the video back to a Pi powered dvr over wifi. sure, I could buy a ready made system but wheres the fun in that.

  4. She puts me in mind of some of these Christians who become Moslems. One week they are preaching that the only way to get to heaven is by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, they week after they are proclaiming that there is only one god, his name is Allah and Mohammed is his prophet.

The ironical part is those who voted Brexit because they wanted back their "soveriegnty" are upset that a foreign woman had to go all the way to the highest court in the land to make the point that Parliament is sovereign not the Administration.

Of course Maggie Mae does not have to accept the Supreme Court ruling, she could always appeal to the European Court of Justice Paul ;-)

Didnt Stasi May say she was going to go over the courts head ?

Also Scotland, N. Ireland, and Wales aint allowed a say. feckin shambles the whole lot of it so fed up with UK politics and politicians. Armageddon cant come soon enough.

  5. ALL - Please be aware that outside agencies of the wrong kind are very capable of running software on sites like this (Friendly Forums of any kind) to trawl for personal details like Email addresses, Bank Details or anything else they could use posted in all innocence by its members!!

Postal Addresses however should be fine with NO real damage or Immediate threat!! (the very reason I asked for a fiver!!)

I used to be on a Horse Racing Site (Tipster Challenge) where the Site owner made us all aware of this!!

It's a dangerous world!!! :lock: & not same as Spam??

I hope the Admin' Team take this one on board & take the necessary steps to make members aware of the dangers!!

    Thanks.

    Martin.

Are you new to the internet ?

  6. Yeah Andy, throwing a few lures is bound to wake them up and hopefully induce a take on either them or the static bait :). It can't do any harm anyhow as we know pike arn't usually the shyest of fish and they are attracted to disturbance. Many times after bringing in dace etc the pike have honed in on it and been a pain in the harris lol.

Ive started twitching my deadbaits in too Tigger. was packing up for the night after a very productive days piking years ago and as soon as i picked up the rod and moved the bait about an inch it got smacked :D

sods law though cause its never happened again since, but I still twitch in.

  7. Yeah Andy, the disturbance caused may attract the pike to your bait even if you don't get a hit on the lures.

Heard that a few times enough to be convinced its a worth while tactic  Pike could be sitting there for ages wondering if it should take a bait then along comes a bit of shiny shiny and WHACK! :D

  8. I see hes up to his usual tricks then. Realy NO surprise there, seen it coming from miles away. We seen it in scotland destroying historic unique sand dunes and turfing out the locals. The article cory put up and now the oil pipeline. I wonder what he will do next. Money at ANY cost.

  9. The padlock indicates a secure connection. If IE has been discontinued it might not be updating the ssl side of things. I think this could be the problem.

Remove the S from https and see if the site works. I wouldnt reccomend continuing to use it without a secure connection though! Also possible it wont work as some sites now insist ssl so will automaticaly put the S back.

  10. the gps data for each image is in a seperate text file right ?

is the file name of the text file the same as the filename of the photograph.

does the text file only contain the gps data, is there more in the file such as the gps plus the file name and extra data, is the text file even human readable.

Im just wondering if a batch script could be written to append the gps in the text files as exif data on the photo

  11. Not sure how old your link is but i got the pro version free ,i wonder if the code works in your link?

I was hopy my fuji camera gps data could be imported into google earth but unfortunately for some reason the fuji techs didnt consider this .

The only way i can do it is manually using para something or i can use my gps logger (so i end up ignoring the camera data) take a picture and press the loggers button then insert the pictures into the loggers software then upload it to google ,in the end i lost patience

I remember you talking about this before but I cant remember if anything was sorted, gps was saved to seperate files was it not ?.

is there a way to get the fuji suit to embed the gps in the exif, what if you saved it as a new jpeg ?
