  1. Hi Chris,

Will try and get to this one as well.

I might bring a hard hat in case we get hit by a hail storm again like the Gorran trip!!

Let me know which weekend you are thinking about.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  2. Hi All,

Just seen the weather forecast for Sunday - 23mph Southerly.

Will that mean a bit of fishing in the River at Fowey? Or somewhere else?

Not bothered about the rain, just looking forward to a good laugh a few beers

  3. Hi everyone,

Good luck tomorrow in Salcombe and on the Exe.

I have fond memories of Salcombe from a couple of years ago, as it was the first time I caught anything other than mackerel from a Yak. Great place to fish!

Hope to catch up with you all for a fish in Torbay soon. Let me know when you are going out next.

Can't wait to see the photos.

    Dave

  4. Hi Rob,

Good to hear from you. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the Cornwall weekend.

I keep looking at my Hobie in the garden. Definately need to get out soon. But got my hands full with two kids under three.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  5. Hi Dave,

No problems with you crashing in the tent...............

    Chris

    Thanks Chris,

Let's hope we catch a few fish. I've just got back from a couple of hours fishing off Goodrington beach and only caught tiny two pout :schmoll:

Nothing really happening at the moment, I'm sure Berry head would've been better, but just fancied a nice easy trip at the end of a long week.

    Cheers,

    Dave.

  6. Hi Chris,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you.

I'm going to drive down early Sunday morning and stay and fish on Monday.

I'll either crash in the back of one of the work vans, or I might take you up on the offer of a corner of your tent if it is still ok.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  7. Hi all,

Just got back from a family wedding in the Nashville and managed to get some quality fishing time to fulfil a life long wish to fish for Wide Mouth Bass.

I was lucky enough to taken out on a fantastic boat owned by a local guide. It had a massive 225hp outboard which could push it along at 71mph. Unfortunately, we were fishing on a small lake which had a no wake rule :schmoll:

The best fishing was around a tree line on an old bank which had been in place before the lake was extended. The water was only 4 feet deep due to a drastic lack of rain in the area, but each cast had to be aimed at the base of the trees to get any interest.

The best lure seemed to be a 'spinner' which consisted of a lead head and muppet on the end of a wire boom and spinning spoon. Not sure if any of the fresh water pike anglers use it in the UK, but I thought I would bring one back from the local Bass pro shop to try it.

The Bass Pro Shop was fantastic, with some really cheap lures. I was surprised to see on one Yak - a P13. I was expecting to see a few Hobie yaks, but was told that yak fishing hadn't really taken off in that part of the States. The Bass pro shop even had its own aquarium to show you what to aim for!

Had a great few days with the best fish being around the 5lb mark. Great sport on light tackle

  8. Hi everyone,

Looking forward to it. I'll be there early to catch the high tide.

Rob - I'll try and get some prawns this week, but can I swap some ragworm / sandeel if I can't? as I am in Hampshire with work till Friday.

How many of us are going?

    Dave

  9. Hi Chris / Rob,

I am up for it. I have all ready got the 'time off for good behaviour' booked with the Mrs!!

Any idea which weekend to go for?

Good luck with the fishing this week Rob. I am going to try and get to a weigh in to have a look at the catches, although the weather doesn't look that favourable :schmoll:

    Cheers,

    Dave

  10. Hi Chris,

I saw a 2w handheld VHF in a shop in Torquay for £59. Can't remember the make- Cobra I think. Not fully water proof, but comes with a free waterproof case as part of the offer.

Sorry I didn't get time to call you tonight about Brixham this Sunday. Will call tomorrow.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  11. Hi,

I've not been on the forum for a few weeks but thought I'd add a reply on this.

I've had a Hobie Outback since September and love it. Interestingly it does have a completely different drift pattern due to its hull design and size. I initially noticed this when I was fishing with Chris W in his Prowler.

I do find it a bit of a struggle to paddle a long way, but then this is my first Kayak, so have little to compare it to. It is fantastic for hands free fishing and using the mirage drive means that you can cruise around all day with little fatigue.

The UK dealer lives a few miles from me in Dartmouth, so I'm sure product support won't be an issue (let's hope I don't have to find out :D )

I'd like to have a go in the 16ft version as it looks easier to paddle, but I'm not sure if they have one in the UK. Unfortunately, I can only just get my Outback in my garage, so an upgrade to the 16ft version is not an option.

    Cheers,

    Dave
