  1. Assuming it's a take apart, get a helper with a kettle of hot (but not boiling) water. Grip the pole either side of the joint and hold it horizontally. Get your helper to pour the hot water over where the two sections overlap without getting it into the joint itself. Twist and pull almost as soon as the water hits the pole.

The hot water should cause the outer section to expand enough to loosen. You do need to pull straight away though because itf the inner section has time to warm up as well, you're back to square one.

I find what Ken said is the best way

  2. I'm just using vitalin with micro pellets, some times putting in dead maggots and a little bit of corn.

If you use boiling water to mix it the vitalin binds quite well. If you don't want to play around some of the Van de Eyne method mix binds it well.

Cheapest place I have found for vitalin are the pet super stores like "pet city"

Vitalin is on special offer at just 99p per bag from Morrisons at the present time.

  3. So ok what was every bodys 1st ever fish then i hold my hands up to the humble Gudgeon {still love em today}

And me from the River Ouse many moons ago but it stills feels like yesterday.

  4. I went out early and had six carp to 10 lb off the top on bikkies.

Packed up at 9 am as it was getting hot. As I packed up other club members were arriving........

By 11 was home sipping iced gin and tonic :sun:

Start early and finish early to hit the bottle what ever next

  5. Snakes regularly slough their skins, Pike, but if it's happening to you, I should see a doctor...

Did you ever see that film "The Lair of the White Worm"?

No I did not see the film.

At the time I get up in the morning unless I am watching sport on TV I doze off !

  6. One of the problems with using maggots and sweetcorn is that a lot of smaller fish like them baits as well.

If there is not to many small fish about I would try the above but

there was a lot of small fish I would use large baits like meat for ordinary fishing.

Another way you can catch them is to use carp tackle eg boilies ect.

  7. I have seen plenty of snakes when fishing over the years.

On a lot of lakes with islands on them I have seen snakes go across the water to get on the island.

I once nearly stood on one which was in long grass next to the water I do not know who jumped out of there skin most be or the snake !

  8. There is two many fishing magazines about.

The problem is you can only write so much about fishing.

If some body has just started fishing a it would pay them to get a magazine for a year to get some some advice on fishing at different

times of the year after that it would being telling you the same things

    as a year ago.

  9. In this weeks Anglers Mail it has a report on Tesco selling fishing tackle and what stores it will be available from.

I see that Nige Williams has still got his column in the mail even after his recent trip to Ireland.

  10. Where you aloud to use them pop up boiles are the best.

They will stay on the hook for a long time.

1 You can hair rig them.

    2 Supper glue them on.

3 On some of the softer ones you can put them straight on to the shank of the hook..

  11. On all the club waters near where I live we are not aloud to use live or dead course fish for bait so the only

baits we can use a sea deadbaits.

Is this the same every where else in the uk ?

  12. No no no.... that I think is a misrepresentation of the article.. They did indeed use those words but they also explained their actions saying they intended to kill the fish and freeze them overnight for use the next day. This is surely a ridiculous justifcation of their actions thus making a mockery of any apology and their readers intelligence to boot??

And Budgie of the approx 200 fish, 30 were carp, the other rest WERE roach...

He should be sacked as an angling journalist surely?

I think that he should be sacked as an angling journalists as well.

Say sorry for what he did is not enough.
