Didn't mean to sound quite so negative , the Swale could be a good venue.....just be aware of the dangers.
You could try launching at Seasalter and paddling back towards the Swale, but the tide does go out a long way so you might have only a few hours over HW to fish.
I normaly launch at Tankerton/Herne Bay area.....not quite so messy

Never fished it from a yak....but beware of the strong currents in the Swale, they've caught out people before...also watch out for the deep sticky mud , can be dangerous.
Should be good for Bass at the very least........
Oh...and i hope you still have wheels on your car when you return...or a car come to that.

How much do you value your eyesite ?
I know you can pay up to a couple of hundred pounds for designer glasses , but if you aim a little lower there are a few that are expensive but good value.
For several years i've worn Maui Jim sunglasses , they were recomended by an optician ....i paid £100 pounds, on offer as well !
They are well worth the money though, no more eye strain , headaches etc.
They do many styles at different prices, i have two pairs the originals now come with me to work /driving and the other pair i bought from Sportfish , on offer at half price....they come fishing.
My Wife was allways nicking them because they were lighter than her Kangol ones so i had to buy another pair for her, at least they were still on offer at the time.
I mainly flyfish and alot of people i know , now use them
It's worth getting the best you can afford..and waiting for special deals.

Thanks Dave, no offence taken.
What I meant was that the large 'groove' running down the middle of the hull is wider than the gap between the two pads. This prevents the pads being completely flush against the outer part of the hull. I'm sure there are technical names for these parts but I don't know them. I just checked the pictures on their website and the kayak they use has a much narrower 'groove' than mine. I don't think it will be a major problem, its just a shame not to make the most out of those big support pads.

I'm pretty pleased with it. I only have my D.I.Y. trolley to compare it with but from what I've read on this forum it is better than the rest.
It is very quick and easy to assemble, the little stand is helpful and it seems fairly strong and robust - time will tell.
My only disappointment is that my Scupper Pro doesn't sit flat on the nice wide rests but more on the two edges of the rests. I have only tried it out on my drive but I think it should be fine. Everybody else seems to rely on them so they can't be too bad.
Don't want to state the obvious if you allready know, but the support pads do move to accomodate different angles of kayak hulls........
Perhaps i should just leave now.....

Take a look at the Fullingmill Gold fly rods, i have the Gold 5# and it is a teriffic small water rod with a very good action, lifetime warrenty and carrying tube...many people have tried mine and have been impressed with it.
The whole Fullingmill range is worth considering.
I also have the Fullingmill Ti4 8# which iwould recomend as well , good rods for the money ......better than many which cost far more .

Got aload of worms off Paul last year.....we couldn't get any decent ones localy, so a couple of mates clubed in with me and we stocked up.
The worms arrived the next morning in a large polystyrene box....biggest buggers i've ever seen ...in perfect condition.
Those we didn't use were frozen down, but still remained a first class bait when we needed them.
If you want a good bait and can't find any near you , he's the man to ask......well worth it.

Depending on the weather between now and then, you are possibly a bit early ,May would be what i would say is the real start of the season, but you could have some Striped Bass, Bluefish, Cod,Flounder (Fluke) or Weakfish to go for.
Try asking on some US sites as to when things start or what you could expect to find and how /where to get them.

Have had Shark steak myself.....simmilar to Swordfish i thought....very nice it was too.
I hadn't thought of them eating it for some reason....just saw the dead fish pics,....it does throw a different light on it.

Simon , your help/guidance would be most appreciated for my dilema.
I am a newcomer to the sport, i have a FeelFree Gemini two seater, it seems ideal for me at the moment as i can take the wife or Grandson for a paddle round the bay and it seems a fairly safe choice for my needs at the moment.
However i can see it is not ideal for fishing or offshore work,. it was a compromise to get us out on the water.
Right , i now am thinking about up-grading this year to something that would cope with fishing, in shore or possibly further out and longer round trips.
I'm 6' 16.5 stone and am not sure i could squeeze into a Scupper pro, so others on the list include Elite, Dorado, Pelican or as it is popular in Aus the Perception Freedom(swing), would they all fit the bill? I had thought of an X factor or a Cobra XF. but your comments on height/stability have me thinking.
My skills are limited at present, but would like one that could grow with me as i learn.

You'll be well pleased with a TFO TiCrX rod, they are a superb blank...i have them in 8# and 9# will cope with anything and are a joy to use..next one for me will be a 6#
Like most things rod choice is a very personal thing, what suits one won't might not suit another...but i don't think you'll go wrong with one of these.

No i haven't had a good dunking in it yet.....but there is still time !..........the wrist seals seem to work fine though , just haven't gone fully under enough to test the neck seal, so all i can say is it's splash proof at least.
I'm 6' 16 stone(ish) and the extra large fits fine , but it's better to ask there advice ( give them your size) when you get in touch with them.

Don't know about the Gul Infra, but i have the Gul Ion which seems well made and is very comfortable .
The Ion is a four layer breathable and seems quite tough.....only time will tell, it also has a different collar and features glideskin neck and wrists.

Service from the wetsuit outlet is first class and they answer any queries you might have ( size etc.) quickly.

Hi Elton,
It seems I've caused a bit of bother !
I only wanted to find out if i was alone in having troubles occasionally , in case i had computer problems that needed sorting.
The reason it appeared in the Kayak section is because thats the only section i visit , and i merely asked my fellow yakers if they were experiencing the same.

Don't know the reel, but for distance reels most people use either ABU 6500 or Penn Mags ....... level winds cut down distance, so learn to lay the line with your thumb.... gear ratio's dont affect the distance cast, only the speed of retrieve........ i doubt if your reel will cast 200 yds.
Ken's spot on with what he says.... few people cast as far as they think they do on the beach... the distance you can cast on a level grass field in light clothing, is very dfferent from what you can do on a steep shingle beach wrapped up in your gear, with the wind blowing ..... especially at night !
Most people only fish at 80- 120 yds with bait...some make it out to 130- 150yds, very few can really cast much further , and those that do have put in alot of hours practising and have the right kit.
Lessons from an instructor will help or failing that practise with a friend who can cast... try to cast smoothly and get a good technique and you will get a good fishing distance..... eventually, just don't expect it to be 200yds.
An instructor i knew, allways had a laugh at the distances people claimed they could cast, even over grass... he could cast over 200 yds but his fishing cast was usually much less, more like 130 yds, but he could do the same cast time after time, day or night with little effort.
