  1. If plugs arent getting wet and if the carb was gunged up my bet is the jets, take them out and blow them clear, use carb cleaner, dont be tempted to poke wire through them but if they are really blocked you could use fishing line.

    Dan

give the jets a good clean and makesure you are not getting air in,on the fuel line /bulb.

  2. Cleaver Bank....? Is that the Silver Pit area John. 3 and 4 a time if i'm not mistaken too.

Might have alook at that, as by then most of the pheasants are in the pens ready to go..August time, think the other Graham may come aswell, not seen him today but picked some crabs up from him and his mother seems ok...can't wait to go wrecking again as we have had a crap year here with parents been ill etc....lost a good Springer yesterday with cancer,so it's another dog to sort..I would like to see you all again...if my Gaffer is going aswell...off to Tenerife next week for 15 days so that will make a change..then its back putting chicks in sheds...as from next friday we have 3000 cihicks hatching ever week for about 10 weeks ..then I am clear for the rest of the year...so I may get some with you Carl later on..I spoke to Ivan and he off this weekend to Norway..have you seen the Prof'Micheal' on any trips.

  3. :D Bit like me. Insurance company wanted an inventory as I wanted £10,000 of cover in the event of theft or fire, I stopped typing at £20,000. :D

YES..I can understand that...its just a pain in the shed..it wil take me 2 days I think just to see what ther is...plus got about 50,000 hooks over in a house at Norwich...got alot of shads but they are dear to post so its a collect or deliver job at right money..just want to have a clear out..and do something else..got too much on with these pheasants and shooting at mo..got a Greys pirker and a tld 25 in very good con if some one wants to make a offer...

  4. I have a shed plus.. full of gear that I want to clear out for a good offer..within the next week or so I will do a stock take shortly...you have a tackle shop stock or a market job....must get rid as I am into pheasants now too much...shooting???if you live in Norfolk ring me or uk on..07909916873..there is probably about £4000..last time I did a stock it was £11000.

  5. Im going to tenerife in a couple of week's to a place called los galletos just outside los cristianos . im taking a couple of rods with me to fish the harbour and beach there , has anyone got any tips on rigs bait and tacticks and any idea's on what i may catch many thanks ;) looking forward to any reply's

Dont think you can fish in the harbour,as they are some large mullet etc...as all in tenerife...seen the locals with bread and bits of chopped up fish...call in the nearest Netto and buy the bait they have squid and small sardine type fish..that will start you off...most float fish using small hooks...like coarse fishing over here...no big hooks..you will have good fun..I am off in 3wks for my 15days then go again in back of year...if you fish off rocks be carefull..see where the old locals go..they all have telly rods about 12lb line and float fish with carp size hooks...watched them for about 20yrs now and never seen anything what i call big enough to eat..hope you catch,I am out there on the 13 may

  6. Yarmouth's a funny old place these days. I should imagine that much stranger things have gone missing on a regular basis than a boats gear box. I can't quite get my head round how they may of managed to get that out though.

I wonder what has happened to the Flounder population? I know in some parts they get caught and used for pot bait but there's not really a great deal of that sort of thing off the East Coast and there's definitely not as many Flounders about as there used to be. I should imagine I've been out around 15 times'ish off the beach this year, since November and I've only had one particularly small and very rancid Flounder in all.

I think the Eel population is in pretty serious trouble..

I caught a 1.3/4lb Flounder off the beach at happisburgh about 2yrs back and thats the last I have seen...but I have not gone for awhile...theres not alot off the beach at Walcott either,at the mo so people tell me.

  7. Walcott's pretty much spot on re: the Asda section of river and safety. I speak from what could of been a very sticky situation I got myself into whilst a teenager. Not much fun. To be honest it wouldn't really be worth the risk as the Eel population is in the midsts of a serious decline and there are far fewer Flouders in Breydon that there used to be.

Years ago we used to cycle across the Halvergate marshes and fish downstream of the Berney Arms near to the start of the estuary, hunt for a few ragworm and then catch a bucket full of Flounders, some good ones too up and above 1lb.

Caisters my home beach and fished it recently for just about the same sort of catch of mini-codling to around a lb. I think catches like that are pretty much the average at the moment all the way from North Norfolk down to South Suffolk. The exception being Aldeburgh's 'Dirty Wall' stretch and Orford Island which have seen much better catches of fish but they're an hour South of Gt Yarmouth.

As a very, very rough guide. You've got the deeper water up on the North Norfolk shingle around Weybourne, good for Whiting and Codling after theres been a bit of a blow and fairly reliable for Mackerel on feathers in the Summer. The shoreline then gradually shallows and turns to sand as you move south through places such as Trimingham and Mundesley then on through to Cart Gap and Winterton the beach can be very shallow in places with gullys and bars that can be good value for Bass in a month or two but very few fish it these days so it's hard to tell.

Then on round to Hemsby and Caister its fairly shallow and fishes better on the tide up. This area is suseptable as much of the coast is to quite dramatic changes after storms so consistent advice is fairly hard to give.

Quite a number fish Gt Yarmouth North Beach out in front of the Iron Duke and seem to do ok although theres a weed bed offshore that can cause havoc with drifting loose weed on certain tides.

The mouth of the river at Gorleston fishes ok both seaward and river side and might be worth a go for a few spring run Codling as might Hopton, Kessingland and Pakefield although the latter is snag city.

The suffolk beaches are fairly similar in character down towards Southwold where it shallows up quite noticeably with a prominent sandbar and at an awkward distance. If you fish Southwold, fish the tide up as you can run out of decent water. Great Sole beach in the Summer though, with good fish reported most years but with a name like Sole Bay maybe thats not surprising. Walberswick the other side of the river is very shallow but a fair bet for bass in the Summer, especially in the river.

The water then deepens gradually down through Sizewell, Dunwich and then quite noticeably past Thorpeness and on to Aldeburgh.

To be honest a lot of the fishing is concentrated in certain spots like Cromer Pier, Weybourne, Pakefield and especially Aldeburgh to name a few so lots of areas of the coastine rarely see a hook. I guess the best way to figure it out is to get out and about and give it a go..

If the moderators don't mind me saying so - probably the best place to get detailed info on the area is from the World Sea Fishing Forum, East coast section. They're a good bunch and generous with advice and much more experienced than the likes of me in the main. The Leader Lines website is good for reading catch reports..

    Good Luck.

When the weather was crap to take the boat out of Gt Yarmouth we used to go into Breydon water and anchor up out of the channel which the Hol boats use,and we had bag fulls of lovely sized Eels and some nice Flounders..I think we had them to nearly 2lbs one year...then we would go to the Berney arms for a liquid lunch...good days...went to take boat out one day..got on board etc..checked everything and found someone had been and nicked the gear box...thats on a 30ft boat just above the yacht station, how they got it off still makes me think now.

  8. :camera: I have fished both areas in the past and found all methods work well except spinning. Floating and legering work best with prawn as bait. I've had bream and bass on these methods, floatfishing with bread will catch mullet and bream. Groundbaiting helps too. Mash up some sardines with breadcrumbs and see them go for it, then put a sliver of sardine on the hook for mullet and bream.

this is what we did and also we fished floated bread..and it worked if you did'nt have to cast it too far...we went nite fishing on a boat for these large bass...but they are more like a grouper sort of fish...lovely big fish, had conger aswell to 90lb at the time...went to the fish market one morning and you should have seen the size of these bass and conger..some of the conger was as big as me and I am 16st....7/8ft long and probably 36" round.

I would'nt even think of fishing from ASDA side or River side near Breydon Water as to how the tide comes in and runs out...I have fished in Norfolk for 30 plus years..also you would only catch eels/flounders but they would be good ones...try Gorlestone,Hembsy and up the coast to Cromer there lot's of places....you have 2 rivers with tidal flow going into the Asda part and when they are in flow it's a danger to you and you won't hold the bottom any way...North/South beach at yarmouth is as good as any where....plenty place to go south towards southwold aswell.

  10. So I would think you are lost not going to Whitby??...Hows the SHADS do you need anymore...I still have 1000s in the shed also some twintails,4" and 6"....not fished at all for 12mths...only for Trout..been shooting 4 days each week...now building pens for the pheasents....had some good bags of pigeons....think postage on Shads will be high ...due to weight...but will sort a good price out to any one who wants.

  11. How many can the boat take?? What is the price for booking the boat for the day or just as a single angler???

Some serious cod there my friend :)

I would have alook at the Chieftian site for prices etc and what it doe's....cheers The Codmaster

  12. I was thinking the same with reguard to the fish size. They'll look good once smoked on the plate.

I was at Rocklands this Monday gone. Wind, rain, hail and snow I must have been mad, but I bagged my quota of fish for the day. The wind was blowing from the top left hand side of the lake over the trees. This forced the fish into the two bays on the right hand side. Two stockies from there and interestingly one over wintered one from the reed bed at the top left. I lost a few flys, but it was a good learning day. I had to work for the fish.

Would you be good enought to post a small report on Tuddenham. I would be interested to hear how you got on.

    Tight lines.

    squibs

Yes I will do if we go,think weathers got to change abit yet for it,might go to Rocklands as I have the shooting on the fields at the side of it if the wind is blowing for the pigeons then do abit of fishing aswell, its 40 mile for me to go there from Walcott, just abit less to Tuddenham which I think opens this weekend, where are you based.

  13. You may know this already Walcott, but James at Rocklands has put his fees up to £20 and has increased the bag limit to four fish per session. The season ticket is still the some as last year. He is also growing on some Trout so that there will be larger over wintered fish available. A good season ahead I feel.

    Tight lines.

    squibs

Yes I fished the other week and saw them trout he was over wintering in his other pool...its the only time of year due to water flow so he was saying he can do it...they looked in nice condition and size to say he got them when they were 6" long..might see you there sometime then...might try tuddenham next week if it warms up abit.

  14. Graham would like a trip off with guys not sure about accomodation on there now for lad in a chair was ok when J B had it because i was on of the family.plenty of fish inside to keep me happy maybe you should have a go with me off Robin Hoods Bay then challenge can come and board us and check our catch LOL

    Yes mate..nice b &b then near you,with parking etc...loocal pub job.

  15. Cheers for the help. I fished the setchey stretch of the nar the other day, and i'm not sure if the trout/ grayling go down that far towards the ouse, i couldnt see/catch any either way. I'll have to try the river further east. And i heard its quite good up towards fakenham for trout so thats definately the next stop.

    Thanks for the advice.

Try Rocklands Mere lovely place, small water 3 fish for £16, nice fish size for the price..and Norfolk and Suffolk fishery at East tuddenham..2 lakes very nice place and good fish, thats £16 for 4 fish just turn up and put your money in the envelopes provided and place in box...plenty of info on the site in the huts there....some big fish in there..try looking on internet at there site it's got all you need to know.

  16. Let me know when your two are coming on a trip together and I will book with you.

    If that’s ok.

    Regards.

I will let you know when and if as they say...other Grahams mum is off to have a bypass sometime so he's out of it for the moment..and I think my mum is ok from her cancer hop,we see the consultant end of March so will see after that...it would be nice to get the old Darlick along if Challenge is coming aswell...so I must get some gear sorted then for another big one if my Gaffer is on about coming..hope you are keeping ok..email me if you have JBs email...cheers to all

  17. :1a: :1a: :fishing1:

Come on then Graham , lets make it a date.

As you know , i'm more of a quantity man though.

But i still fancy my chances against the 'Grockle' he he he.

I will see later on,spoke to the other Graham last nite and he's up for it...at the mo I have shooting to do,got 270 acres of Rape to look after plus all the rabbits..the deer are also having ago..put someone in a field and they go else where,or they start in the wrong field..once we have put the spring drills in..I am off to tenerife..then I will have alook, good fishing to you all..cheers mate

  18. I was meaning the places that are on the site. If you look at the date and the length of the trips they all follow on. So there are not a lot of bookings so far. Or i might be wrong!!!

No you are right...the site as just been updated..when I looked it had not...its there problem though...so we will see..I was thinking about a trip with my mate and going to find some places with motorola, give him a lesson,he needs them

  19. Hi Mr M looking at the web site not a lot have booked so far this year. Let me know what dates your on and i might give it another go.

    Martin

Marting, how can you tell from the website??that theres not alot booked..they are available places on trips booked by people so I understand on the web site with available places as they didnt have a full team, when booking.

  20. We went to the south west end of may last year...thats four of us..we hired a large 23ft inboard plus boat for the week...the fishing was good but it was all coalies at 5lb each..coming up like mackeral each drop..biggest cod 11lb haddock 11lb tors was 8lb.....we fished with hokkias 4 hooks and you had 4 coalies all the time,we couldnt get rid of them,as soon as the things hit the water bang on again...you want to get as bigger boat as you can afford...we tried 1 pirk and it was 1 coalie all good fish..get diesel boats if poss...we used £22 fuel for the week and the ones who had outboards there billl was £130...theres nice fishing from where you are staying..just chucking from the quay...also be aware when we arrived they wanted a 1000k up front and that was not in the booking info at all...take plenty of beer ....i am thinking to go North this year..not picked a place yet..hope you catch a good fish

  21. does anyone have any beachcasters that i can buy because mines nakered preferably for a multiplier and also does anyone have a gemini weight mould for sale

YES got a few here, need to get rid of as been hanging about too long..email on.grahamdaniels@tiscali.co.uk

will be right money..but it's the posting what gets you

  22. Well, did sod all fishing last time, but I'm out there again next week for a two week break and am DEFINITELY taking a telescopic rod this time. I can't bear the thought of two weeks there without fishing, especially as I'm skint and will have no beer money.

I would try the telly rods you are taking with float in harbour..using bread and if you can get hold of a fish..chop up for bait..just try and see....been going to the Island for years and not seen anything big caught...if you go to Gomera its the same sort of fishing..you have to get away from the small fish..twice a year I look into Los Gigantes harbour and Jersey and see the mullet...what a sight..think if you fished for them now you would be shot....in the late 60s we fished for mullet in Guernesy and they was special fish...you need sort of carp size hooks in Tenerife...no 6/0s...unless put a pennel down 6/0 with big bait and leave over night..you my get a nice squid/octopuss...for bigger stuff you have to go out..not far.
